Marseille vs Lille: Our top betting tips

Marseille suffered Champions League defeat in the week. Will they put that European result in the rear view mirror by winning here? Find out with our Marseille vs Lille prediction match preview with free tips, predictions and odds mentioned along the way.

Marseille to win it

We’ve already mentioned that Marseille lost in the week but we expect them to bounce back with a victory here. The hosts had been in great form prior to that midweek defeat going six unbeaten in all competitions with the four games preceding that Spurs loss all victories. Lille meanwhile have been in mixed form with two wins, two defeats and a draw across their last five matches. With all that weighed up – along with Marseille having home advantage – we see no reason why Les Olympiens won’t come out on top.

We can't imagine goals at both ends

Our next prediction for this match is that at least one side will fail to score. We’ll be honest, the recent form of both sides is finely balanced but we believe the ‘no’ bet and the associated odds offer us decent value hence we’re offering this prediction. So, the downside for this tip comes in the shape of Lille's form; each of their last five games have seen both teams score. Marseille's last four matches, however, have all seen at least one team fail to score. So, what's the deciding stat? The head to head record, of course. Two of the last three clashes between these sides have ended with a ‘nil' in the final score line.

An elite clash in Ligue 1

Both of these teams have made pretty solid starts to the new season. Marseille are flying high in second place and are yet to lose a game whilst Lille are sixth and getting ready to mount a push for European football as the campaign progresses. With both teams likely to be in the upper portion of the table throughout the season, this game could prove vital as time progresses.

You cannot knock the positive start to the season that Marseille have made but you can point to a clean bill of health as far as the team is concerned, which certainly doesn't do any harm. Pedro Ruiz is their only injury concern ahead of this match.

Marseille Predicted lineup – Lopez, Gigot, Bailly, Mbemba, Clauss, Veretout, Rongier, Tavares, Gerson, Guendouzi, Suarez

Lille have their work cut out to get a result at Stade Velodrome but they will at least travel with a squad that is close to full fitness. The one player that is definitely ruled out is Timothy Weah but he's been missing all season long so the team are used to getting the job done without him.

Lille Predicted lineup – Jardim, Ismaily, Djalo, Fonte, Diakite, Andre, Gomes, Bamba, Cabella, Zhegrova, David
