After a strong end to last season which saw them finish third in the Premier League, Manchester United have enjoyed a solid-enough pre-season, recording two wins, one draw and one loss.
The only defeat came at the hands of Wrexham, while they have enjoyed victories over Rosenborg and Atletico Madrid. Last time out, they drew with PSG, but were the better team for the majority of the match.
It hasn't been a summer of huge activity at Old Trafford, but their two new midfield signings, Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, have impressed. There is a sense of quiet optimism ahead of the new season, but their squad does still seem a player or two short.
Michael Carrick knows the importance of starting the new Premier League season quickly, so testing themselves against fellow top-flight opposition this week is a shrewd move.
The new United boss will be buoyed by the fact that he now has his full squad, minus the injured Manuel Ugarte, back in training. As a result, we may see something close to what he considers his strongest XI on Wednesday.
As for Leeds, the aim this season will be to push on and firmly establish themselves as a Premier League club after an impressive first season back in the top flight.
The Whites finished last season in 14th place and after making three statement signings – James Trafford, Harry Wilson and Tarik Muharemovic – Daniel Farke will want to avoid the relegation battle altogether this time around.
Leeds have also enjoyed a positive pre-season, winning three of their four matches. Unlike their opponents on Wednesday night, Leeds have faced Premier League opposition this summer, recording wins over Liverpool and Sunderland.
Farke has no fresh injuries to report, and could hand a debut to Trafford.

Both teams have been impressive over the summer, but we just edge it to Manchester United now that all of their World Cup stars, including Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha, are available for selection again
More than two goals have been scored across three of Leeds' last five matches in all competitions, making over 2.5 goals a solid bet this week.
Bryan Mbeumo has scored three goals across his last two matches for Manchester United, and is our tip to score anytime on Wednesday.
