After finishing third in the Premier League last season, this summer was all about building a squad capable of competing on four fronts for Manchester United.
After only signing three new players, one of whom is a reserve goalkeeper, it is difficult to argue they have achieved this yet, but they have still managed to enjoy a solid pre-season.
The Red Devils have recorded victories over Rosenborg and Atletico Madrid, and have drawn with PSG and Leeds. To their credit, they were the better team against both PSG and Leeds, and Michael Carrick will be largely pleased with what he has seen.
With United facing a trip to Hull next weekend for their opening match of the season, Carrick will be desperate to give minutes to Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford and Lisandro Martinez, who all returned to training late due to their involvement in the World Cup final.
On the injury front, Matthijs de Ligt is still out, and doubts remain over Mason Mount and Benjamin Sesko.
As for AC Milan, life under Amorim has started pretty similarly to how things started under the former Sporting Lisbon boss when he was in charge at Old Trafford.
The Italian giants are yet to win a match this summer, and there are already some concerns about Amorim's five-at-the-back system, which restricts Rafael Leao's natural instincts as a winger.
Amorim himself has plenty to prove this season, and he can perhaps count himself fortunate that another European heavyweight has given him a job after his disastrous tenure at Old Trafford.
He will be desperate to get his first win as AC Milan boss against his former employers, which means Goncalo Ramos could make his debut after signing from PSG.

Whispers predicts: Man Utd 2-1 AC Milan
Man Utd have played well for the most part this summer, while AC Milan have already suffered a bad defeat at the hands of a Premier League club.
Both teams have scored in each of Man Utd's last three pre-season friendlies, making this a solid bet on Saturday.
Bryan Mbeumo has scored three goals across his five pre-season appearances this summer, and we are backing him to find the back of the net again this weekend.
