Manchester United‘s announced priority on the transfer market in 2026 wishes to leave their current club in January next.

During the last summer transfer window, Manchester United primarily strengthened their attacking sector by signing Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko. But the Red Devils also tried to add an additional strong element to their midfield with Carlos Baleba.

This target, valued at £105.2m, had even given their green light to the Manchester club for a transfer. However, this deal did not see the light of day, because Brighton opposed a departure of their 21-year-old Cameroonian gem. Arrived during summer 2023 at the Seagulls from LOSC for £23.1m, Baleba has already established himself as a very important player in the English side's midfield.

Carlos Baleba wants to leave Brighton this winter

He is notably coming off a season with 40 matches with 4 goals scored and 2 assists. The former Lille player already features amongst the most reliable midfielders in the Premier League and has very significant potential. This has therefore attracted Manchester United's attention.

The Red Devils, who missed the boat this summer, have however not planned to give up in this matter. Thus, a few days after the closure of the transfer market, Ruben Amorim had already designated the Manchester club's priority on the transfer market in 2026 with Carlos Baleba.

In mid-September, the uncertainty concerned the date of Manchester United's offensive: the winter or summer transfer window. Precisely, excellent news has just dropped in this matter for the English side. According to information from Indykaila News, which is a page followed by nearly 700,000 people on X, Carlos Baleba wants to leave Brighton next January.

A fine opportunity for Manchester United at the next transfer window

The British media indicate that the Cameroon international's (9 caps) agent will meet the Seagulls' management next November to announce this decision to them. Thus, Manchester United will therefore have the opportunity to sign their priority on the transfer market next January.

A starting price has not yet been announced for Carlos Baleba, who is valued at £34.2m by Transfermarkt, but whose transfer amount will surely be over £85.5m. It will be necessary to see whether the Red Devils will have the means to secure this Premier League gem and whether other outfits will get involved in this matter.
