The Cityzens recently beat the K-League All Stars 3-1, but lost on penalties to Inter Milan after a 1-1 draw in Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, Atletico played the other half of Manchester in their most recent friendly, losing 2-1 to United, which followed a 4-1 win against fellow Spanish side Getafe.

After a decade of outstanding success at the club, Pep Guardiola left Man City this summer and was replaced by his former assistant Enzo Maresca.

The ex-Chelsea manager has had a mixed start to his tenure, losing to Inter on penalties in his first game in charge before beating the K-League All Stars.

Maresca has been backed with the £116m signing of Elliot Anderson alongside three others to help try and continue Guardiola's legacy, but there have been a number of notable departures too in the form of Bernardo Silva and John Stones.

Former Atletico midfielder Rodri is rumoured to be potentially joining Barcelona too, while a number of other key players are yet to join the squad after World Cup duty.

Atletico have the same issue, while star striker has also been linked with a move to Barca as well as Man City's Premier League title rivals Arsenal.

Diego Simeone has been backed once more though in the transfer market with the arrivals of Lee Kang-in, Morten Hjulmand and Alejandro Grimaldo, and the former is in line to make his debut after signing from back-to-back European champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Atletico performed relatively well in the Champions League last season, reaching the semi-finals before being undone by Arsenal over two legs.

However, it was a struggle for them in LaLiga, where they finished in a disappointing fourth place, behind Villarreal and far off the pace of the usual suspects Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Whispers predicts: Manchester City 1-1 Atletico Madrid

*odds unavailable at time of writing

While odds are currently unavailable, we anticipate Man City will be installed as the favourites.

However, given their patchy form and the calibre of players they have unavailable, we would back a Double chance – Draw/Atletico.

BTTS – Yes would be our next pick depending on the price, having come through in both teams' two pre-season friendlies so far.

With Erling Haaland not in the squad due to his World Cup involvement, youngster Divin Mubama has been given a chance to impress up front.

He has scored in both of Man City's friendlies so far, so Mubama to score anytime would be our final bet.

Overall, we are predicting a 1-1 draw, which we think could yield high odds.
