Almost a year after his arrival at Manchester City, the verdict is clear for Omar Marmoush: he has not established himself. To improve their attacking sector, the English club are thinking about the Premier League sensation. But is this wise?
When Manchester City recruited Omar Marmoush, it looked like a perfect match. The Egyptian striker was enjoying a tremendous half-season at Eintracht Frankfurt with 20 goals and 13 assists in 25 matches. The Citizens therefore paid €75m (£64m) to recruit him during the winter transfer window in January 2025. But quickly, Omar Marmoush was overshadowed by Erling Haaland.
The 26-year-old player has scored nine goals since his arrival in England, none in the Champions League. He is clearly unable to keep pace with Erling Haaland, Manchester City's main asset. Against Bayer Leverkusen, Omar Marmoush had the opportunity to shine in the Champions League, without great success. That is why, according to information from TalkSport, the English club are considering making an offer for Antoine Semenyo.

Manchester City ready to give up on Marmoush?
Whilst Erling Haaland's output has been exceptional since the start of the season (19 goals in 17 matches), the attacking play relies far too much on the Norwegian cyborg's efficiency. Manchester City could therefore enter the race for Antoine Semenyo, who is attracting all the Premier League heavyweights. Nevertheless, despite the fine market opportunity the Bournemouth player represents, the signal sent is not ideal.
The investment deployed for Omar Marmoush remains significant and to attract Antoine Semenyo, they will need to spend the same amount, or perhaps even more. Pep Guardiola cannot find the solution to improve his attacking sector and spending €75m (£64m) for the Cherries striker would be a huge disavowal from the Sky Blues in the Marmoush case. Moreover, the problem would be the same with the Ghanaian striker, who will also be in Erling Haaland's shadow.
