Manchester City are set to accelerate the signing of Gianluigi Donnarumma. The 26-year-old Italian, replaced by Lucas Chevalier at PSG, is ready for a new challenge before the transfer window closes.
Following PSG’s 1-0 victory over Angers on matchday two of Ligue 1, Donnarumma bid farewell to the Parc des Princes. Sidelined and overtaken by the French shot-stopper, the Italian goalkeeper is seeking a fresh challenge. Time is of the essence, with the summer transfer window set to close this Monday.
Targeted by Manchester City, Donnarumma, now 26, has been identified by the Citizens as a successor to Ederson. However, City must first resolve the Brazilian’s situation. The 32-year-old, under contract until June 2026, is attracting strong interest from Turkish side Fenerbahce—and the move appears to be progressing quickly, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Ederson set to join Fenerbahce
On Sunday, the Italian journalist reported that Ederson’s move to Turkey is virtually complete. Barring a last-minute twist, the Istanbul-based club—who recently parted ways with Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho—are poised to sign the former Benfica keeper. Initially linked with rivals Galatasaray, Ederson now looks set for Fenerbahce.
Fellow journalist Nicolo Schira has backed up these claims, adding that Fenerbahce will pay a transfer fee of approximately £13m (€15m) for the Brazil international. The two parties have reportedly agreed terms on a contract running until June 2028, which will see the player earn around £7m per year (€8m) excluding bonuses.
As a direct consequence of the deal nearing completion, Manchester City are expected to accelerate their move for Donnarumma. According to Romano, the 2024 Premier League champions have already scheduled a medical for the Italian goalkeeper.
