Manchester City have made the perfect start to the Premier League season, and they will look to extend their 100% record when Ipswich visit the Etihad Stadium this weekend.

Enzo Maresca’s Manchester City side have won all six of their opening Premier League matches, scoring 16 goals to average 2.67 goals per game. 

Their dominant performances underline just how clinical they have been in front of goal this season.

Ipswich, by contrast, have struggled on their travels, conceding at an average of two goals per game. However, they will take confidence in their 2-1 victory at home to Fulham last weekend.

Haaland has been City’s standout performer by some distance, having scored six goals from his six league appearances.

He has taken 19 shots and 10 on target, and he followed up his goal against Liverpool with a brace against PSG in midweek. 

That run of form has him firmly among the most in-form strikers in Europe heading into the weekend.

Ipswich’s defensive record offers plenty of encouragement for backing him to add significantly to that tally. 

Gary O’Neil’s side have conceded an average of two goals a game this season, including four inside the opening quarter of an hour.

When the two sides last met in the Premier League, during Ipswich’s previous top-flight stint, City scored 10 goals across the two meetings, with Haaland netting four goals in those two games alone.

With City averaging 2.20 expected goals at home and Haaland having had a shot on target in every league game so far this season, the ingredients are there for a big afternoon in front of goal. 

He has also shown he is capable of taking his chances in bulk against weaker opposition, having already scored a brace once this season.

A hat-trick is never a formality, even against a side as exposed defensively as Ipswich, but few strikers in the Premier League look better placed to land one this weekend than Haaland does against Ipswich.
