The identity of the young goalkeeper recently linked with PSG is now known: Alessandro Longoni. But the AC Milan teenager is not yet in Paris, with Manchester City providing stiff competition.
Since the Qatari takeover, the goalkeeping position at PSG has arguably been the most turbulent in the squad, with regular changes between the posts. Last summer, for instance, PSG parted ways with Gianluigi Donnarumma to recruit Lucas Chevalier. In a surprise twist, the former Lille keeper has since been overtaken by Russia international Matvey Safonov.
During the summer 2025 window, the French club also signed a young backup in 19-year-old Renato Marin from Roma. The Italian featured in three matches across all competitions this season. And he could soon be joined by another Italian arrival.
Man City rival PSG for Longoni
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, PSG are monitoring the situation of Alessandro Longoni very closely. The 18-year-old goalkeeper has decided to leave AC Milan this summer after the Italian club effectively gave up on him around a year ago. With his contract expiring in June, Longoni wants to try his luck elsewhere — and France is one possible destination.
However, while French media recently reported that PSG were close to an agreement with an unnamed young goalkeeper, Longoni's future remains “uncertain” according to the Italian outlet. A move to Paris is a possibility, but Manchester City are also tracking the keeper closely and are believed to have a strong chance of winning the race.

Why Man City are interested in Longoni
Manchester City's goalkeeping department is undergoing significant change following the departure of Ederson, the Brazilian who left the Etihad as a free agent when his contract expired this summer. Gianluigi Donnarumma, signed from PSG, has established himself as the club's first-choice option, but backup James Trafford spent the majority of the season on the bench and is attracting interest from Tottenham.
With Trafford's future uncertain and incoming manager Enzo Maresca keen to build for the long term, City are understood to be scouting promising young goalkeepers across Europe. Longoni, who is available on a free transfer when his AC Milan contract expires later this month, represents a low-risk, high-potential addition — the kind of smart investment that would allow City to develop a future number one without committing significant transfer funds.
