Borussia Dortmund have kept three clean sheets in their last four games

Borussia Dortmund will be hoping to bounce back from their disappointing 0-0 draw against Fluminese in their opening game of the FIFA Club World Cup (CWC) in Group F when they take on Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday evening. Sundowns currently top the group having beaten Ulsan 1-0 in their opening fixture.

Mamelodi Sundowns vs Borussia Dortmund prediction: Dortmund to get back on track?

Key stats

  • Sundowns' win against Ulsan last time out was their first in three games in all competitions.
  • Dortmund were on a six-match winning streak before drawing to Fluminese.
  • In each of those six victories, Dortmund scored at least three goals.

Correct score prediction: Mamelodi Sundowns 0-3 Borussia Dortmund

Despite a positive result for Sundowns in their opening match, Dortmund pose a completely different level of opposition for the South African side. The Germans should win fairly comfortably, and given the high amount of clean sheets they have been keeping of late, Dortmund could even win to-nil.

Player to watch: Serhou Guirassy

Serhou Guirassy failed to get off the mark in Borussia Dortmund's opener, and he will be determined to put that right against Mamelodi Sundowns. The striker has scored an impressive total of 34 goals across all competitions so far in the 2024/25 campaign, and will be key if Dortmund have ambitions of going all the way.

Indeed, the Bundesliga side should still be confident of qualifying from the group despite a disappointing opening match. A win against Sundowns should see them through.
