Euro 2024 Qualifier Predictions for Malta vs Italy

Contents
Italy & Under 3.5 Goals
Our first Malta vs Italy prediction regards the match result and the total goals scored during the 90-minutes. Italy have won all of their eight previous encounters with Malta but the last four of those meetings have produced under 3.5 goals. Under 3.5 goals have been scored in five of malta's last six outings and only two of Italy's last six fixtures have witnessed more than three goals being scored.
Mateo Retegui to Score
Our second Malta vs Italy prediction is for Retegui to score at any time. Italy's Argentina-born striker scored on his international debut in midweek against England, and a well-taken goal it was. We're backing Retegui, who scored 22 league goals for Tigre last season and has 6-goals in 8-games this season, to find the back of the net against Malta this weekend. Retegui is out to impress and earn himself a big-money move to Europe this summer and there is no better way of doing that than making a name for yourself on the international stage.

Malta vs Italy Lineups
Malta
Malta gave a decent account of themselves away at North Macedonia but still ended up with no points to show for their efforts as they suffered a 2-1 defeat. The first-half ended goalless much to the frustration of the home fans but Elmas fired North Macedonia in front after 66-minutes and that was followed up shortly after by a Churlinov striker making it 2-0. Yankam pulled a goal back for Malta in the 85th minute to setup a nervy final few moments for the hosts but North Macedonia held on to confirm their victory.
Predicted Lineup – Bonello (GK), Borg, Attard, Apap, Kristensen, Camenzuli, Teuma, Guillaumier, J. Mbong, Satariano & P. Mbong
Italy
The Italian fans were left disappointed as their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign got off to a losing start at home to England. Southgate's men had the best of the first-half, scoring twice to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime interval. Italy came out with more purpose in the second forty-five and reduce the gap to one goal in the 56th-minute when Retegui scored on his international debut. Italy continued to trouble England throughout the second-half and when Shaw was sent-off for the visitors 10-mintues from time, it looked like Italy might get an equaliser. However, that wasn't the case and Mancini's men suffered a narrow and disappointing defeat.
Predicted Lineup – Donnarumma (GK), Tolói, Acerbi, Spinazzola, Di Lorenzo, Verratti, Jorginho, Barella, Pellegrini, Berardi & Retegui
Starting Lineups
Teams often announce their starting lineups one hour prior to the kickoff.
Player to Watch: Mateo Retegui
Italy's latest striking sensation could get the county's form back on track and return the nation to the top of the footballing Pyramid.
Retegui, who has played all his career in Argentina so far, made his international debut in midweek against England, starting the game and completing the 90-minutes, not to mention, scoring his team's only goal of the game.
Retegui is destined to sign for one of Europe's big clubs this summer after scoring 22-goals for Tigre last season and looking like he might beat that total this season as he has so far scored 6-goals in 8 games in the Liga Profesional Argentina.
We're excited to see how Retegui performs in his next qualifier against Malta and expect him to score at some point in the 90 minutes.
