Barcelona kick off the defence of their La Liga title away to Mallorca at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix on Saturday evening. The reigning champions have managed to keep the core of their successful squad together, and also added a couple of nice additions in the summer transfer window so far.
Mallorca managed to secure an impressive top-half finish in the 2024/25 season, finishing in a respectable tenth place in the La Liga table. Nonetheless, the hosts will not be easy opponents for Barcelona as both teams aim to get off to a good start.

Mallorca vs Barcelona prediction: Visitors should emerge victorious
Key stats
- Mallorca have only won one of their last seven games in La Liga dating back to the end of the previous campaign.
- Barcelona have won each of their last five matches in total in all competitions.
- Mallorca's previous win against Barcelona in any competition was all the way back in 2009!
Correct score prediction: Mallorca 1-3 Barcelona
Barcelona should take home all three points here, but Mallorca certainly will not make it easy for them. We are expecting plenty of goals, as is usually the case whenever Barca play, but the hosts could also find themselves on the scoresheet.
Pre-game odds and win probability: Barcelona odds-on favourites with bookmakers
- HOME: 19/4 (5.75) – 17.4%
- DRAW: 17/5 (4.40) – 22.7%
- AWAY: 1/2 (1.50) – 66.7%
*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Barcelona have been installed as the odds-on favourites to take home all three points. A draw can be backed at just under 23% according to the implied probabilities, while a Mallorca victory on home soil is rated at just over 17%.

Most recent H2Hs: Barcelona on long unbeaten streak
As mentioned before, Mallorca have failed to beat Barcelona in any competition since 2009. Barca have also won the previous three meetings between the two sides, so we are not expecting a shock result here.

Mallorca preview: Torre to start against former club?
Having signed from Barcelona, Pablo Torre could well start against his former club here. Samu Costa is expected to be the only notable absentee for the hosts with injury, so Mallorca should be able to field a very strong starting XI.

Barcelona preview: New signings not registered yet
A number of Barcelona's new signings like Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford have not been registered yet, although we expect that to be sorted out by kick-off. Marc-Andre ter Stegen is still out with a long-term injury, while both Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski are also major doubts for this one.
Predicted lineup: Garcia (GK), Kounde, Araujo, Cubarsi, Balde, Pedri, De Jong, Yamal, Fermin, Raphinha & Torres

Player to watch: Joan Garcia

Given the quality of goalkeepers already at the club, all eyes will be on Joan Garcia to se if he can make the big step up from Espanyol. He should make his La Liga debut for Barcelona against Mallorca, providing that they can register him in time of course.
