🔥 Our Hot tip

Over 3.5 total goals

Dynamo's last three games have averaged 4.3 goals per match.

Maccabi Tel-Aviv will play host to Dynamo Kyiv in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League (UEL) play-off tie on Thursday night. The winner over two legs will book themselves a place in the league phase of the competition, while the loser will be demoted to the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL).

Both teams actually started off in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) qualifying rounds, but Maccabi lost 2-1 on aggregate to Pafos, and Dynamo incidentally also did the same in the next round, losing 3-0 on aggregate. Nonetheless, both teams will be well up for this clash with what is at stake.

Maccabi Tel-Aviv vs Dynamo Kiev prediction: All square for second leg?

Key stats

  • Maccabi have won their last three games in total in all competitions.
  • Dynamo's defeats in both legs to Pafos were their only ones in seven matches across all competitions.
  • Dynamo are unbeaten in four previous H2Hs, winning two of them.

Correct score prediction: Maccabi Tel-Aviv 2-2 Dynamo Kiev

Both teams are in good form heading into this one, so we think that they may shake hands on a draw in the first leg. We are also expecting plenty of goals, with both sides failing to keep a clean sheet in each of their last four matches in total in all competitions.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Maccabi marginal favourites with bookmakers

  • HOME: 7/5 (2.40) – 41.7%
  • DRAW: 12/5 (3.40) – 29.4%
  • AWAY: 7/4 (2.75) – 36.4%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

As shown by the implied probabilities, Maccabi are slight favourites ahead of Dynamo to take a first-leg advantage into the second leg. A draw can also be backed at just under 30% with bookmakers.

Player to watch: Ido Shahar

Ido Shahar was the hero of the last round in the UEL for Maccabi, scoring a total of two goals and making a further assist in their 3-1 win at home to Hamrun in the second leg to progress 5-2 on aggregate. He is a player that Dynamo will certainly have to be wary of on Thursday night.
