Ludogorets vs Shkendija predictions: Goals at both ends

Key stats

  • Both teams were on the scoresheet in four of Shkendija’s last five matches.
  • Five of Ludogorets Razgrad’s last seven games featured fewer than 11 corners.
  • Ludogorets suffered a 2-1 defeat in the first leg of this tie.

Correct score prediction: Ludogorets 1-1 Shkendija

Despite being the clear favourites, Ludogorets lost to Shkendija when these teams clashed last week. The Bulgarian Parva Liga champions have struggled to find their best form of late, with no wins in their last three games.

On the other hand, Shkendija have put in some impressive results in recent weeks, eliminating teams like FCSB and The New Saints in the Champions League qualifiers. We believe they will hold their own against Ludogorets once again.

Ludogorets preview: Looking to overturn a one-goal deficit

Ludogorets had their Parva Liga Round 6 game against Beroe postponed because of this crucial encounter, which means the Bulgarian champions would have had a full week to prepare before Thursday’s must-win contest at home.

The hosts lost on the road last week with North Macedonian side Shkendija doing just enough to earn a 2-1 win, and must now battle to overcome the deficit in front of their home supporters..

Deroy Duarte, who bagged the goal last time at Skopje, was deployed as the single pivot in Rui Mota’s 4-3-3 system. We expect the Cape Verdean to retain his place here, as Coach Mota will likely keep faith in most of the players who started last week's encounter, with no injuries to worry about.

Predicted lineup: Padt (GK), Nedyalkov, Almeida, Nachmias, Son, Stanic, Duarte, Naressi, Chouiar, Bile & Marcus.

Shkendija preview: A clean bill of health

Shkendija have failed to make it past the playoffs of any UEFA competition to date, but they enter this clash now within touching distance of a spot in the Europa League main event.

While their hosts Ludogorets had their league fixture postponed, Shkendija were in action at the weekend, drawing 0-0 at home to Arsimi in a clash in which coach Jeton Bekiri only brought some of his key players in the second half with this game in mind.

Besart Ibraimi scored one of the goals last time against Ludogorets and should retain his place up front with support from Fabrice Tamba and Liridon Latifi.

Predicted lineup: Gaye (GK), Trumci, Fetai, Cake, Webster, Ramadani, Alhassan, Latifi, Zejnulai, Tamba & Ibraimi.

Liridon Latifi put in a man-of-the-match performance last week, scoring once and providing an assist in Shkendija's 2-1 victory over Ludogorets. The former Puskas Akademia forward will look to score in both legs of this tie.
