Ludogorets vs AZ Alkmaar prediction: Last chance for Ludogorets?

  • Ludogorets are winless in the Europa League, with two points from five games.
  • However, the Bulgarians are unbeaten in six, including a 0-0 draw away to Lazio.
  • AZ Alkmaar have a perfectly balanced record. They have won two, lost two and drawn two, conceded seven and scored seven.

Correct score prediction: Ludogorets 1-2 AZ Alkmaar

We back AZ Alkmaar to bring all three precious points home from their long trip to Bulgaria.

Ludogorets will make for tough opponents, but the Dutchmen have the better players and have had better results in the Europa League, despite a very challenging set of fixtures so far.

Ludogorets preview: A must-win

Ludogorets have longs struggled to convert their domestic dominance into a breakthrough campaign, and unfortunately for them, this Europa League campaign has been much the same.

The Razgrad club have taken just two points from their opening five fixtures, and currently find themselves well outside the playoff places.

Encouragement for the Bulgarian champions will come from their strong record against Dutch sides (played four, won three, lost one) and their 0-0 draw with Lazio last time out.

Predicted lineup: Bonmann (GK), Witry, Kurtulus, Almeida, Son, Naressi, Marcus, Chochev, Duarte, Gropper, Cruz

Peer Koopmeiners is AZ's creative hub – Photo by imago/Tobias Kleuver

Player to watch: Peer Koopmeiners

After seeing his elder brother Teun depart for success in Serie A, Peer Koopmeiners has taken up the family name in the AZ midfield.

The 24-year-old possesses similar creative skills to his brother, and assisted both of AZ's goals in their shock win over Ajax at the weekend.

It was no flash in the pan either, with the Dutchman ranking in the 96th percentile for expected assists too.
