🔥 Our Hot tip

BTTS - Yes

Real Betis netted five goals in their previous friendly, while the Liverpool team will be keen to impress Arne Slot and record a much-needed win.

Liverpool were defeated in a behind-closed-doors friendly by Preston North End earlier this summer, but this will be the first time the wider public get to see Arne Slot's men. Real Betis won't be an easy opposition for them to face, but this is exactly the sort of challenge the Reds need heading into a big season.

Liverpool vs Real Betis prediction: Reds to impress their new manager

Key stats

  • Liverpool finished last season unbeaten in four games
  • The Reds have lost six of their previous 12 matches against Spanish opposition
  • Real Betis kept back-to-back clean sheets as they rounded off a successful 2023/24 season

Correct score prediction: Liverpool 2-2 Real Betis

With Liverpool still very much in the thick of a transitional period under new manager Slot, it would be a surprise to see them click into gear so early in the summer. Real Betis appeared to be very impressive against Austria Salzburg last time out, so we are expecting a lot of goals in this clash.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Liverpool to hand Slot his first victory

  • Home: 1/1 (2.0) – 50%
  • Draw: 11/4 (3.75) – 26.7%
  • Away: 23/10 (3.3) – 30.3%

Liverpool are yet to get going under Slot and have a number of their star players on holiday but are still heavily favoured by the bookmakers. The Reds won't have their strongest lineup for this game which should make it closer than some may be anticipating.

We are struggling to split these two teams given the mitigating factors, so we'd suggest backing BTTS for a very safe bet. However, we do offer other free betting tips across all club friendlies, and other matches for you to check out.

Most recent H2Hs: Real Betis yet to get the better of Liverpool

Real Betis have come unstuck in the two games they've faced Liverpool in the past losing 2-1 at home before then earning a draw at Anfield in the Champions League. Both matches were in the group stages during the 2005/06 season, and this will be a good way to see how far they've come in that time.

Liverpool preview: Slot looking for his first positive result

This will be the first game Slot's men have played in front of fans, so it will be watched with much intrigue. The Dutch boss has huge boots to fill following the departure of Jurgen Klopp, so a strong showing in pre-season is necessary.

Predicted lineup: Kelleher (GK), Bradley, Quansah, Van den Berg, Robertson, Szoboszlai, Jones, Endo, Elliott, Salah, Carvalho

Real Betis preview: A big chance to cause an upset

Real Betis' pre-season got off to a flying start on July 20th when they put five past Austria Salzburg away from home. The Spanish giants will indeed be without star attacker, Ayoze Perez for this game, but should still have enough to put on a professional display.

Predicted lineup: Adrian (GK), Sabaly, Llorente, Sierra, Ruibal, Alcaraz, Carvalho, Mateo, Fekir, Fernandez, Juanmi

Player to watch: Fabio Carvalho

It's almost forgotten that Fabio Carvalho is still only 21 years old and has so much more to give in his career. Carvalho spent the second half of last season on loan with Hull City getting his confidence up and managed to register nine goals and two assists playing in several different positions.

The Portuguese youth star was deployed as a striker and right winger during his time in the Championship, so Slot may well wish to try him out in several positions this pre-season. This is a huge summer for Carvalho who may need to move on for regular first-team minutes if he can't win over his new manager.
