Over 3.5 goals

Liverpool's last two friendlies have seen over 3.5 goals.

Liverpool play the second of two pre-season friendlies against Como in front of fans at Anfield on Sunday evening.

The first will be played earlier in the day behind closed doors, as the Reds aim to gain maximum fitness ahead of the new season.

This will be Como's second successive friendly in England, after holding Arsenal to a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium but losing 4-3 on penalties.

Having started pre-season well with two wins, Liverpool come into this friendly off the back of two straight defeats.

There is some cause for concern for new manager Andoni Iraola, whose squad also lacks the depth needed to sustain a real title challenge like in 2024/25.

Ronald Araujo has been signed on loan from Barcelona to cover at centre-back, but more positions need strengthening before the window closes.

Joe Gomez, Giovanni Leoni, Jayden Danns, Hugo Ekitike and Conor Bradley are all out injured, while there remain fitness concerns over Jeremy Jacquet and Curtis Jones, but Alexis Mac Allister has at least returned from the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Como made several changes to their team in their draw with Arsenal last time out, as manager Cesc Fabregas returned to the Emirates.

Star player Nico Paz was not involved although he turned up to watch his team play, and it remains to be seen whether he will feature against Liverpool.

Still, Fabregas should still be able to field a competitive side, similar to the one that matched Arsenal on Wednesday night.

Like Liverpool, Como will be playing in the Champions League this season, having qualified for it for the first time in their history after an impressive fourth-placed finish in Serie A.

Whispers predicts: Liverpool 2-2 Como

Liverpool are 4/5 (1.80) favourites to win, but given their recent struggles for form, we are happy to back Como to get a positive result.

Double chance – Draw/Como at 1/1 (2.00) therefore appeals as an opening bet, while Over 3.5 goals at 11/10 (2.10) could also come through with six of the nine pre-season friendlies both teams have been involved in so far featuring four or more goals.

In terms of player betting, Florian Wirtz has netted in Liverpool's last two friendlies despite defeat, so Wirtz to score anytime at 9/4 (3.25) seems generously priced to us.

Overall, we are predicting a 2-2 draw, which is available at 11/1 (12.00).
