Lincoln Red Imps met their match in the first leg, as Mjallby struck three times to inflict a first defeat on the Gibraltar champions in 20 competitive games.
Juanma Pavon’s men have their backs against the wall, needing a miracle to make it past the second Champions League qualifying round for the first time ever in their 50-year history.
They opened their campaign with a 3-1 win over Inter Escaldes in the first round, before drawing 1-1 in the second leg.
The Red Imps have no major injuries to take into account. Similarly, Mjallby are injury-free as well, but have three players – Axel Noren, Aki Samuelsen and Tony Miettinen – who risk suspension.
Mjallby pulled off a dominant 3-0 victory in the first leg, with Aki Samuelsen (x2) and Jacob Bergstrom netting within the opening 30 minutes to seal a comfortable victory. Samuelsen even missed a penalty in the second period.
The Swedish champions are one of this qualifying season’s flashpoints. They are aiming for a first-ever Champions League group stage appearance in their maiden qualifying season.
Karl Marlus Aksum’s side, however, enter this clash following a 2-1 loss in the Allsvenskan against Kalmar. In fact, their only victory in previous eight competitive games was against the Red Imps in the opening leg.
