This is the second meeting between the sides in the space of four days, after Lens ran out 3-2 winners in Friday's Ligue 1 thriller to get matchday 30 underway.

After narrowly missing out on European qualification in each of the past two seasons, Lens would have gladly accepted a return to continental football at the start of this campaign. Yet with five matches remaining, they find themselves embroiled in a thrilling title race with reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Pierre Sage’s side underlined their title credentials in dramatic fashion last time out, overturning a two-goal deficit to defeat Toulouse 3-2, with Ismaelo Ganiou sealing a remarkable comeback in second-half stoppage time.

Turning their attention to cup action, Les Sang et Or are aiming to reach their first Coupe de France final since 1998—another potential milestone in what has already been a standout season.

Tuesday’s hosts will hope for a more straightforward encounter against Toulouse this time, although dramatic victories like Friday’s can often provide the spark needed in a title race.

Florian Thauvin and Odsonne Edouard—both of whom featured as substitutes last time out—are expected to return to the starting XI as Lens seek a 15th win in 16 home matches across all competitions.

With relegation not a threat and European qualification out of reach, Friday’s loss to Lens carries little long-term consequence for Toulouse. However, victory on Tuesday would be hugely significant for Carles Martinez’s side.

Unlike Lens, Carles Martinez’s men have recent pedigree in this competition, having lifted the trophy in 2023 with a resounding 5-1 victory over Nantes in the final.

That triumph ended Les Violets’ 14-year wait for European football, and with continental qualification at stake once again, Toulouse have added motivation to overcome Lens, something they have achieved just once in their last 10 meetings.

Having had a player sent off in each of their last two matches, Tuesday’s visitors can ill afford further disciplinary lapses, especially on the road, where they have managed just one win in 90 minutes across their last seven away fixtures.

Whispers predicts: Lens 3-1 Toulouse

Lens have dominated this fixture in recent years and, combined with their formidable home form, backing the hosts to win at 1.57 appears a strong pick.

Neither side has looked convincing defensively of late, so both teams to score - Yes at 1.80 is another tempting punt.

Four of Lens’ last five matches have seen fewer than five bookings, as have Toulouse’s, making under 4.5 cards at 1.83 an appealing selection.
