Leeds United will begin their preparations for the 2026-27 Premier League on Saturday in their first friendly of a USA trip.

In their first season back in the top flight last time around, Daniel Farke's side achieved safety in relatively comfortable fashion, ending in 14th spot on 47 points having enjoyed an eight-game unbeaten streak until a final-day defeat.

In their 38 games, the Yorkshire side scored 49 goals and conceded 56, with nine of their 11 victories coming on home turf, while they also enjoyed an FA Cup run to the semi-finals before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at Wembley.

They then turned their focus to the new campaign with hopes of another strong mid-table showing, having undergone some changes with Pascal Struijk and Willy Gnonto among those departing while Harry Wilson and Tarik Muharemovic have arrived to bolster the attacking and defensive ranks respectively, with Noah Okafor being the only notable squad member to skip the USA trip for a break after going to the World Cup quarter-finals with Switzerland.

Leeds United will now bid to get up and running and begin building momentum for the Premier League season with a win in their first of three games on American soil.

In their way stand a Wrexham side who are already underway in their preparations for a second straight Championship term.

The Red Dragons arrived in England's second tier in 2025-26 on the back of three consecutive promotions and again adapted seamlessly, eventually finishing seventh as they racked up 71 points from their 46 outings.

That left them just two points outside of the playoffs having ended with a defeat and a draw, but with plenty of positives to take having managed 19 wins and scored 69 goals – the sixth most in the division.

Phil Parkinson's side started pre-season with a goalless stalemate against Wisla Krakow, before taking on a strong Manchester United team last time out and winning 1-0 as Sam Smith scored the only goal in the first half.

Wrexham now head to the United States for three friendlies against Premier League opposition with the hopes of putting another impressive win on the board this weekend.

Whispers predicts: Leeds United 1-1 Wrexham

Wrexham are already up and running in pre-season with an eye-catching win last time out and take on a Leeds United side playing their first friendly after World Cup commitments for several squad members. The Welsh side certainly have the quality to test Premier League opposition and we fancy them to win or draw the game in the double chance market.

While the contest is on neutral ground in Florida, Leeds United were only able to keep two Premier League clean sheets away from Elland Road last season and Wrexham were only shut out on six occasions in the Championship – the second fewest in the league. Leeds should get on the scoresheet given their quality and we predict Both Teams to Score.

Even without Noah Okafor, who is on an extended break, Leeds United have a strong attacking group including new addition Harry Wilson. Dominic Calvert-Lewin should act as their focal point after hitting 14 Premier League goals last time around and we back him to score anytime.
