Everyone associated with Leeds, from the manager to the fans, will feel there is a golden opportunity in front of them this weekend, with Man Utd seemingly in crisis mode.
The Whites haven't beaten Man Utd at Elland Road since 2002, but their 2-1 triumph at Old Trafford towards the end of last season should mean this group of players come into this match with more confidence than any other Leeds side in recent history.
Leeds have made a strong start to the season, with their only defeats being away fixtures against Chelsea and Arsenal. Even in those matches, Leeds could have won, with Daniel Farke's men taking the lead in both.
Farke, who has had to deal with comparisons to Marcelo Bielsa for his entire time at Elland Road, deserves credit for how he a) kept the club up last season and b) has improved them over the summer, both in terms of setup and personnel.
Farke will be without Mateo Joseph and Joe Rodon on Sunday, but there is a chance that Dan James is passed fit to face his former club.
As for the visitors, this is a fixture they could do without as they look to overcome a five-match winless streak to win at one of the most difficult places to go in England.
Michael Carrick is starting to look more dejected by the week, and his mood won't have improved after Lisandro Martinez took it upon himself to call out Jason Wilcox, the club's Sporting Director, in his post-match interview after the Atletico Madrid defeat.
That defeat in Madrid also means the Red Devils come into this one with heavier legs than old rivals, which could prove to be decisive as the game progresses.
Carrick, who could be relieved of his duties if his side loses on Sunday, could face several selection headaches to deal with this weekend. Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw and Nous Mazraoui are doubts, while Benjamin Sesko, Patrick Dorgu and Manuel Ugarte are all definitely out.
