Lech Poznan enter Europa League qualifying on Thursday with the hopes of staking a strong claim for a playoff spot, having dropped out of Champions League qualifying in their last continental outing.
They began their bid to reach Europe's top competition in the second qualifying round, after winning the 2025-26 Ekstraklasa for the second consecutive year and 10th time in their history, finishing on 60 points from their 34 outings having scored a league-high tally of 62 goals.
That earned them a return to the European stage after a run to the Conference League round of 16, navigating the league phase in 11th place and coming out on top in a playoff tie against KuPS, before falling short against Shakhtar Donetsk, and they were unable to keep any hopes alive of a Champions League appearance when they met Aarhus in July.
The Kolejorz looked all but through after a 4-1 first-leg away win, with Patrik Walemark starring with a brace, only to lose by the same scoreline at home and eventually fall out in a penalty shootout, condemning them to Europa League qualifying with two rounds remaining.
Now, at least, on the back of a first league win of the season in the second attempt of their latest title defence, having visited Wieczysta Krakow and won 2-1 thanks to first-half goals from Yannick Agnero and Allahyar Sayyadmanesh, Lech Poznan will hope to put their Champions League second-leg disappointment behind them and put up a more dominant home leg this time around to boost their hopes of reaching the playoff round and league phase.
Their visitors come into the tie in a similar position, having failed to progress towards the Champions League in the last round after winning a first-round game.
KI Klaksvik secured a Champions League first-qualifying-round place by winning the 2025 Faroe Islands top flight, winning the title for the 22nd time as they finished unbeaten in their 27 matches, winning 23 and drawing four while scoring 92 goals and conceding just 18.
They are now in the midst of their title defence in the 2026 term and leading the table on goal difference with 10 games remaining, most recently beating B36 Torshavn 2-0 at the weekend thanks to goals from Pall Klettskard and Erlend Hustad, taking them onto 34 points from 17 matches having scored a league-high 33 goals and conceded a league-low 12.
Magnus Powell's side won their first continental tie of the term, advancing to the second round of Champions League qualifying by beating Atert Bissen 2-1 in each, only to fall short against Kauno Zalgiris, drawing the first leg 0-0 and only conceding the disive goal five minutes before extra time in the away leg.

Whispers predicts: Lech Poznan 3-0 KI Klaksvik
Lech Poznan scored five goals in their Champions League second-qualifying-round tie against Aarhus and have managed 10 in five competitive matches so far this season after hitting 18 in eight home continental games in their run to the Conference League last 16. We fancy them to score over 2.5 goals at home at 5/6 (1.83).
Their visitors, meanwhile, failed to find a breakthrough across two legs against Kauno Zalgiris in Champions League qualifying and have been shut out in two of their last three games in the Faroe Islands' top flight. We see the Polish side dominating on home soil and back them for a clean sheet, tipping Both Teams to Score – No at 4/6 (1.67).
Lech Poznan won 14 corners in their home leg against Aarhus last time out in Europe and nine in their first home league game of the season in a 0-0 draw. Even when not ahead in a game they have been able to operate deep into their visitors' territory and force set pieces and we fancy over 11 total corners in the game at 11/8 (2.38).
> Over 2.5 Lech Poznan goals at 5/6 (1.83) | Likelihood: Probable
> Both Teams to Score – No at 4/6 (1.67) | Likelihood: Likely
> Over 11 total corners | Likelihood: Possible
