Atalanta to win or draw and over 1.5 goals

Lazio are struggling with confidence right now, and Atalanta always find the net regardless of the result.

The spotlight shifts to the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night as Lazio and Atalanta collide in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final.

Both sides arrive licking their wounds after disappointing Serie A defeats at the weekend, adding an extra layer of urgency to a tie that already carries major stakes.

With a place in the final within reach, this encounter could become a pivotal moment in each club’s season as they attempt to salvage momentum and keep silverware ambitions alive.

After reading our Lazio vs Atalanta prediction, remember to check out other predictions for today.

Lazio vs Atalanta prediction: Atalanta to win

  • Lazio have failed to score in their last three matches across all competitions.
  • The Biancocelesti have won just one of their last seven home games (D3, L3).
  • La Dea have lost only one of the last five head-to-head meetings (W2, D2).
  • Atalanta have won just one of their last six away matches (D2, L3).

Correct score prediction: Lazio 0-2 Atalanta

Lazio’s recent attacking struggles make them difficult to trust in front of goal, particularly against a disciplined Atalanta side that thrive in knockout scenarios.

If the visitors maintain their intensity and manage the game well, they could edge a tight first leg and take a valuable advantage back to Bergamo.

Pre-game odds and probabilities: Slight edge for Atalanta

  • Lazio: 23/10 – 3.30 (30.3%)
  • Draw: 12/5 – 3.40 (29.4%)
  • Atalanta: 11/10 – 2.10 (47.6%)

Odds subject to change

Despite Lazio’s home advantage, the market leans toward Atalanta thanks to their stronger recent performances in cup competitions and their ability to produce big results against high-level opposition.

Head-to-head history: Advantage Atalanta

Recent encounters between these sides have tilted slightly in Atalanta’s favour. La Dea have lost just one of the last five meetings with Lazio (W2, D2), including a convincing 2-0 victory at the Olimpico earlier this year. Lazio’s record at home against the Bergamo club is also concerning, with just one win in their last nine such attempts (D4, L4).

Lazio preview: Searching for a spark

Lazio enter this semi-final in worrying attacking form. Since eliminating holders Bologna in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, Maurizio Sarri’s side have failed to win any of their next three matches, drawing once and losing twice while failing to score in each of those games.

Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Torino highlighted the problem once again, which is the lack of cutting edge in attack, having failed to find the net in their last three matches.

The Biancocelesti have also blanked in four of their last seven matches at the Olimpico, and this could haunt them in a cup tie.

If Lazio are to regain control of this tie, they will likely need a sharper attacking display and far greater efficiency in the final third.

Lazio’s squad has been hit by several injuries, including Samuel Gigot, who remains sidelined after ankle surgery, Mario Gila, who is still recovering from a knee problem, and Nicolo Rovella, who is out with a fractured collarbone.

Daniel Maldini is a doubt due to an ankle issue, while Pedro Rodriguez and Toma Basic are also unavailable.

Predicted lineup: Provedel; Marusic, Provstgaard, Romagnoli, Tavares; Dele-Bashiru, Cataldi, Taylor; Isaksen, Ratkov, Zaccagni

Lazio’s last five results

  • 01/03/26: Torino 2-0 Lazio (Serie A)
  • 21/02/26: Cagliari 0-0 Lazio (Serie A)
  • 14/02/26: Lazio 0-2 Atalanta (Serie A)
  • 11/02/26: Bologna 1-1 Lazio (Coppa Italia)*
  • 08/02/26: Juventus 2-2 Lazio (Serie A)

Atalanta preview: Cup confidence

Atalanta approach this semi-final with a slightly different emotional backdrop. Their surprise 2-1 defeat to Sassuolo in Serie A was disappointing, but it followed a sequence of impressive results that included a dominant Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund.

Earlier in the cup run, Atalanta delivered one of the performances of the tournament by dismantling Juventus FC 3-0 in the quarter-finals. That result reinforced the belief that La Dea can once again challenge for silverware.

Their main concern heading into Rome is away form, as just one win from the last six trips suggests they may need to rely on defensive discipline and patience to secure a favourable first-leg result.

Atalanta will be without Charles De Ketelaere, who is out after a knee surgery, while Giacomo Raspadori is sidelined with a thigh injury.

Predicted lineup: Carnesecchi; Kossounou, Hien, Ahanor; Zappacosta, De Roon, Pasalic, Bernasconi; Sulemana, Zalewski; Krstovic

Atalanta’s last five results

  • 01/03/26: Sassuolo 2-1 Atalanta (Serie A)
  • 25/02/26: Atalanta 4-1 Dortmund (Champions League)
  • 22/02/26: Atalanta 2-1 Napoli (Serie A)
  • 17/02/26: Dortmund 2-0 Atalanta (Champions League)
  • 14/02/26: Lazio 0-2 Atalanta (Serie A)

Player to watch: Nikola Krstovic

Montenegrin forward Nikola Krstovic has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 34 games this season. In what is expected to be a tight affair, the forward is one of the few that can make the difference.
