The football transfer news rumour mill never stops turning, leaving us no choice but to take a closer look at some of the latest transfer news today.

One of the biggest stories of the day comes from Serie A, with Napoli preparing big plans for one of their star men.

Elsewhere, Manchester City are pondering what to do with Phil Foden as the England international prepares to enter into the final year of his contract.

Here are the biggest headlines of the day…

Napoli are putting wheels into motion as they look to secure the long-term future of Scotland international Scott McTominay by offering a new contract, according to GOAL.

The midfielder is currently on the sidelines as he recovers from a tendon injury sustained in early February, though his agent is certainly keeping busy, with meetings over in Italy expected over the coming days and weeks.

Napoli are determined to fend off interest from Premier League clubs by offering McTominay an improved deal which would match his status as one of the leading players in the Serie A.

McTominay’s current deal runs out in 2028, though Napoli are not expected to have many issues extending the deal considering the Scot has gone on record saying: “I am extremely happy here… I could see myself in Napoli for a long time.”

Man City are expected to offer Phil Foden a new contract, despite the England international experiencing a noticeable dip in form over recent months.

According to latest reports from The Athletic, upcoming negotiations between both parties are set be challenging, though ultimately the 25-year-old will be offered a new deal.

Foden’s current contract runs out in the summer of 2027, and there is no shortage of interested clubs, with the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain allegedly keeping a close eye on his situation.

With no goals and just one assist across his last 17 matches for the Citizens, the main priority for Foden is improving his form and strengthening his hand in the upcoming contract negotiations.

Man United run into Andre Onana problem

Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana is currently out on loan with Trabzonspor, though recent reports from the Manchester Evening News have revealed that the Turkish club are refusing to pay the club’s £40 valuation to make the deal permanent.

Onana’s poor form at Old Trafford ultimately led to his departure, though the Cameroonian shot-stopper may yet return to the Premier League if a deal is not struck with the Turkish side.

Trabzonspor appear to have got cold feet following Onana’s latest dip in form, with the goalkeeper earning just one clean sheet in his last 14 matches.

With Senne Lammens securing the goalkeeping spot at Old Trafford, and no clubs willing to meet the £40m valuation for Onana, there is a fresh wave of uncertainty over his future.
