La Liga 2026-27 squad values: Every club ranked from Real Madrid to Deportivo Alaves

The 2026-27 La Liga season is now in full throttle, and with the closure of the transfer window on 4 September, we can clearly see how teams in the top flight size each other up in terms of squad value.

As the second-most valued league in the world, it is no surprise that La Liga teams have a combined market valuation of roughly €5.88 billion at the time of this publication. Although this valuation is significantly less than what the Premier League (€11.3bn) boasts in total overall squad value, the driving factor for the top flight in England is the deep financial muscle across all 20 clubs, a luxury only Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid have in Spain.

The top guns in La Liga – Real Madrid and Barcelona – continue to operate in a league of their own, together accounting for nearly half of the entire division's player valuation.

Real Madrid top the charts as Barcelona cleanly edges out Atletico Madrid

Real Madrid's talent-stacked squad, spearheaded by Kylian Mbappe (€200M) and Jude Bellingham (€160m), gives them the overall highest squad market valuation of €1.46 billion.

While this is true, it is worth mentioning that Barcelona features the league's most valuable individual player in Lamine Yamal (€220m), but the Blaugrana can't match Los Blancos’ valuation, even though they themselves hit the billion plus mark (€1.26B).

Interestingly, both Real Madrid and Barcelona account for almost 50% of the entire league's total market value, with Atletico Madrid’s third-place ranking looking worthwhile if you're looking further down the table, but above it, Los Colchoneros are in no way near the big boys with a valuation of €679.7 million.

Villarreal, Real Sociedad safe in the top five?

Based on the squad valuation table, Villarreal sit comfortably in fourth place, holding a €53.3m gap over Real Sociedad, with the Yellow Submarine occupying a distinct tier between the top 3 and the rest of the league.

Real Sociedad, on the other hand, hold a lead of €23.7 million over Real Betis, a relatively thin gap. In football valuation terms, a single key player sale, injury update, or even an eye-catching campaign by a Real Betis asset (such as forwards Antony and Abde Ezzalzouli) could easily flip 5th and 6th place.

On that note, Real Sociedad are vulnerable to being overtaken by Real Betis, making their top-five position uncertain.

Levante, Rayo Vallecano neck-and-neck in bottom 10

The valuation gap between 15th-placed Levante (€86.90M) and 16th-placed Rayo Vallecano (€86.85m) is a mere €50,000 – virtually a meagre amount.

While the overall market figures for both teams are nearly identical, with these sides constantly performing more than expected in recent years, the two clubs achieve this valuation through similar strategic squad models.

Due to tight La Liga financial controls and modest revenue streams, Levante rely on scouting hidden value and free agents rather than making large transfer outlays (like Jose Luis Morales, Etta Eyong and Ivan Romero). Similarly, Rayo maximise efficiency through smart loan moves, free-agent additions, and high-workrate unit cohesion on the field. Examples are the free transfer deals back then for James Rodriguez and Florian Lejeune, with the low-cost acquisitions of Pathe Ciss and Pep Chavarria.

Malaga pip Deportivo Alaves to least valuable La Liga club

Malaga are the least valuable club in the league with a squad value €11.35 million lower than Alaves (€66.70M – €55.35M).

Playing in the second tier for so many years, Malaga's bottom-place ranking comes as no surprise at all, with their placement being a direct result of their low wage bill and failure to invest heavily in permanent transfer fees. Los Blanquiazules instead rely heavily on loan deals, short-term contracts, and free-agent signings to put together their squad.
