Kosovo preview: Hoping to get their qualifying campaign back on track
In a group Kosovo were expected to be the weeping boys, the result of their first match didn't come as a surprise to many, with a large disparity in quality between them and their group opponents.
Napoli's Amir Rrahmani suffered a second-half injury in the humiliating 4-0 loss to Switzerland last week, and should be unavailable for this game, giving Ilir Krasniqi the opportunity to start.
The hosts may have conceded four before the break against the Swiss, but holding out the entire second half of that game unbreached was commendable and should, in a way, motivate them against Sweden.
Predicted lineup: Muric (GK), Paqarada, Dellova, I. Krasniqi, Vojvoda, Jashari, Rexhbecaj, Avdullahu, Muslija, E. Krasniqi & Muriqi.
Last five matches
- Switzerland 4-0 Kosovo
- Kosovo 4-2 Comoros
- Kosovo 5-2 Armenia
- Iceland 1-3 Kosovo
- Kosovo 2-1 Iceland
Sweden preview: No new absentees
A lack of concentration inside the box cost Sweden all three points in their World Cup qualifying opener in Ljubljana last Friday, as Zan Vipotnik’s equaliser late in the game sent the home crowd into wild celebration.
Still on the road this time, the Swedes are favourites to pick up their first three points in the group, and with no recent injuries to derail their plans, they should be able to get the job done.
Alexander Isak was an unused substitute in Slovenia, but the new Liverpool man is expected to play his first match of the season on Monday.
Predicted lineup: Olsen (GK), Gudmundsson, Hien, Ekdal, Saletros, Svensson, Ayari, Larsson, Bernhardsson, Elanga & Gyokeres.
Last five matches
- Slovenia 2-2 Sweden
- Sweden 4-3 Algeria
- Hungary 0-2 Sweden
- Sweden 5-1 Northern Ireland
- Luxembourg 1-0 Sweden
Player to watch: Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak is expected to get some playing time after sitting on the bench in Sweden's 2-2 draw with Slovenia last time out. The former Newcastle United forward made a deadline-day switch to Liverpool for £125 million over a week ago. He was on the scoresheet in the last two encounters between these teams and will fancy his chances against Kosovo once again.
