Independiente face Banfield on Thursday in the Liga Profesional and with one point separating the pair ahead of kick-off, we're predicting a tight and tense 90 minutes at the Estadio Libertadores de América.
Thursday's hosts claimed a 1-0 win when they locked horns with Banfield just two months ago but two of the last three encounters between the pair have ended goalless.
Independiente will be hoping to make the most of their home advantage but Banfield head into the game on the back of wins against Newell's Old Boys and Independiente Rivadavia in league and cup.

Independiente preview: Without a win in last four
Hugo Tocalli's side played out a goalless draw in their last league game away at Defensa y Justicia which took Independiente onto three points from their opening four matches.
Independiente lack a natural goal threat in their side and only two of the current playing squad have scored more than once in the league this season which is a big concern for the hosts.
Predicted lineup: Rey (GK), Pérez, Laso, Fedorco, Tarzia, Mancuello, Martínez, Millán, Ávalos, López Grobin & Salle

Banfield preview: Only lost two of last six
Banfield claimed a 2-0 win at home against Newell's Old Boys in their last match thanks to two late goals from Milton Gimenez.
Gimenez top scores for the visitors this season with seven goals, equally his tally for the entire 2023 campaign. The 27-year-old striker has previously scored 15 and 16 league goals in a single season and the form he has shown in 2024 suggests that he might be able to produce something similar with Banfield in 2024.
Predicted lineup: Sanguinetti (GK), Insúa, Maciel, Quirós, Aranda, Álvarez, Núñez, González, Rodríguez, Giménez & Sepúlveda

Player to watch – Joaquin Laso
Joaquin Laso has made 17 appearances in the league for Independiente this season which includes full 90 minutes in each of the opening four matches of the 2024 Liga Profesional.
The 33-year-old helped guide his team to clean sheets against Platense and Defensa y Justicia but there has been a distinct lack of goals from his teammates at the other end of the pitch which has played its part in a slow start to the campaign.
The veteran is a leader at the back for Independiente
We're backing Laso to put in another strong performance at the back for Independiente on Thursday in a game that we have predicted will end in another goalless draw. Joaquin Laso continues to do his job but really needs the attacking players to start chipping in at the other end of the pitch if Independiente are going to start winning games.
