Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (3/5): Igamane in demand before deadline day
Rangers star Hamza Igamane is “one to keep an eye on” in the final week of the January transfer window, with both Everton and Tottenham Hotspur showing interest in securing his services.
The Toffees, in particular, are keen on doing business before the January deadline day, according to Graeme Bailey (via GIVEMESPORT).
Everton had form for this sort of business during the first David Moyes era, with a particularly notable example being the signing of Nikica Jelavic from none other than Rangers in 2012, which hugely helped transform a relegation battle into a hunt for the European spots.
Value (3/5): Rangers could play hardball
The Morocco U23 is surprisingly valued at around just £2 million by Transfermarkt. However, expect Rangers to demand a lot more than that figure for the striker, who has 13 goals and three assists to his name across all competitions this season. He is tied to the club until the summer of 2029.
Suitability (3.5/5): Technically proficient forward
Igamane has earned plaudits for his link-up play and movement at Rangers, impressing both as a number nine and left-winger. Question marks remain over his ability to handle the Premier League's physicality, but with the ball at his feet, he could provide many solutions to the problems Moyes has inherited.
Upgrade? (3.5/5): Calvert-Lewin replacement
Dominic Calvert-Lewin's injury may further motivate Everton to push for the signing of Igamane before the close of the window.
With the Englishman's contract due to expire in July, the Merseyside outfit's move for the Rangers star in January could hand the new signing an early opportunity to fill in Calvert-Lewin's void and become Moyes' first-choice option for the long term.
Logic (4/5): Grab the opportunity
Igamane is enjoying a promising season in Scotland and his form is starting to attract a number of Premier League clubs. Before he loses momentum, it would be best for him to grab the opportunity to move to England should Everton come calling.
Of course, 15th-placed Spurs could also hand him a similar opportunity, but with Ange Postecoglou's future uncertain, Everton – now just one place and one point behind the Lilywhites with a game in hand – somehow appear to be an equally appealing destination, if not more so.
Whisper+ verdict: 17/25
Multiple reports have suggested Everton plan to show ambition in the final week of the window, and beating Spurs to the signing of Igamane could be a good way for the new owners to show that.
