Last five H2Hs: First meeting in over a decade
Hungary and Israel haven’t met since 2012 and we can’t base any of our analysis on the 1-1 draw the nations played out 12 years ago.
Hungary preview: Hosts at close to full strength
Hungary were beaten 2-1 by the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Tuesday evening and their performance at the Aviva Stadium was flat. Head Coach Marco Rossi will want a victory on Saturday to help confidence levels in his team's ranks before Hungary head to Euro 2024. Rossi is unlikely to make many changes to his XI, however.
Predicted lineup: Gulacsi (GK), Lang, Orban, Dardai, Nego, Nagy, Schafer, Kerkez, Sallai, Szoboszlai & Varga

Player to watch – Dominik Szoboszlai
Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai is the star name in the Hungary squad and the talented schemer will captain his nation at this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament in the summer. Szoboszlai has amassed 40 caps for Hungary, scoring 12 times along the way.

Szoboszlai is a potential match winner
Szoboszlai managed to rattle the net in three of Hungary’s last four games and his ability to strike the ball off either foot accurately from any distance makes him a menacing prospect for Israel on Saturday.
The 23-year-old showed flashes of quality during his maiden Premier League campaign with Liverpool in 2023/24, though he finished the season with just five goal contributions (3G, 2A) in the top flight, which is a modest return for a player of his quality.
