Feyenoord vs Heracles prediction: Both on the brink

  • Feyenoord haven't lost to Heracles in 18 meetings.
  • Heracles have just one clean sheet in their last ten league games.
  • Feyenoord have underwhelmed at De Kuip, with only four wins from seven.

Correct score prediction: Feyenoord 3-1 Heracles

We back Feyenoord to continue to put the squeeze on Utrecht and Ajax above them with a comfortable win over Heracles.

The visitors have been in poor form, and are hovering just above the relegation zone. We think Feyenoord may leak a goal, but that they will more than make up for it at the other end.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Dominance at De Kuip

HOME: 1/5  (1.2) – 83.3%
DRAW: 6/1 (7.00) – 14.3%
AWAY: 12/1 (13.00) – 7.7%

The bookmakers' expected winner in this game is, by some distance, Feyenoord. Their odds of 1/5  imply an 83.3% likelihood of victory, a verdict we back.

Feyenoord preview: Home improvements required

Feyenoord remain within touching distance of Ajax and Utrecht above them, and only one and three points behind both, while boasting a superior goal difference.

On paper, Feyenoord are clearly the second-best side in the Eredivisie after PSV Eindhoven. However, silly points dropped at home to the likes of Willem II and Fortuna Sittard have put them fourth.

We think Feyenoord will improve their home form this weekend.

Predicted lineup: Wellenreuther (GK), Read, Beelen, Hancko, Hartman, Milambo, Hwang, Timber, Moussa, Gimenez, Paixao

Heracles preview: Away goals hard to come by

Though they are just one spot above the relegation playoff spot, Heracles will still feel relatively safe, as three points separate them from Sparta Rotterdam, who have lost six in a row.

However, Heracles will be concerned by their lack of firepower on the road. The Almelo side have managed just three goals in their seven trips away.

We think they'll get one against a leaky Feyenoord defence, but one will not be enough.

Predicted lineup: de Keijzer, Benita, Mirani, Mesik, Roosken, De Keersmaecker, Zamburek, Podgoreanu, Hornkamp, Engels, Kulenovic

Anis Hadj Moussa has settled quickly in Rotterdam – Photo by imago/Yannick Verhoeven

Player to watch: Anis Hadj Moussa

Algerian international Anis Hadj Moussa has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years. After being let go by RC Lens' academy, he plied his trade in the Belgian semi-pro leagues, but has worked his way up to Dutch football royalty.

The 22-year-old winger, who joined from Vitesse this summer, has now played in the Champions League for Feyenoord, and has scored in five of his last six matches. We think he could bag another here.
