Haiti to win + Over 2.5 goals

Haiti’s dreams of a first World Cup appearance in 50 years are on the line here, and given the gulf in quality between the two nations, we expect them to leave everything on the line and make it five straight victories over Nicaragua.

Haiti’s quest for a spot in the 2025 FIFA World Cup goes down to the wire as they take on Nicaragua in the final qualifying game at the Ergilio Hato Stadium on Wednesday morning.

With only the group winner set to clinch the qualification ticket, Haiti and Honduras sit level on eight points at the top of the table, making the midweek clash a must-win for Les Grenadiers.

Haiti vs Nicaragua prediction: Les Grenadiers to get the job done in another high-stakes tie

Key stats

  • Haiti have won each of their last four games against Nicaragua, scoring eight goals and keeping four clean sheets since a 3-0 defeat in March 2017.
  • Nicaragua have conceded the opening goal in five of their last six matches, with a combined 17 goals being scored across the six games.
  • Haiti have lost just two of their last nine games in the World Cup qualifiers, while claiming five wins and two draws since June 2024.
  • Nicaragua have failed to taste victory in their last five away matches, including four defeats in their most recent four outings away from home.

Correct score prediction: Haiti 3-0 Nicaragua

Haiti’s dreams of a first World Cup appearance in 50 years has boiled down to Wednesday’s game and we expect them to go all out at the Ergilio Hato Stadium. Haiti boast a solid record in this fixture, and given the stakes of this one, we fancy them to extend their winning streak against Nicaragua.

Haiti preview: Out to achieve 50-year feat

Haiti have enjoyed a solid qualifying campaign and just Wednesday’s tie at the Ergilio Hato Stadium stands between them and a first World Cup appearance since 1974.

Having finished second in Group C of the second qualifying round, Les Grenadiers have gone unbeaten in four of their five games in the third round, picking up two draws and two wins, including a shock 1-0 victory over Costa Rica last Friday.

In a must-win tie against the Costa Ricans, Frantzdy Pierrot came up trumps for Haiti as he netted right on the stroke of half time at the Ergilio Hato Stadium to keep their qualification hopes alive.

While Haiti are on the verge of a historic feat, victory on Wednesday alone will not be enough to get the job done, as they need favourable results in the other group fixture to guarantee their spot in the global tournament.

Sebastien Migne’s men have picked up eight points from a possible 15 to sit second in the Group I standings, level on points with first-placed Honduras, who boast a +2 goal difference.

Predicted lineup: Placide (GK), Arcus, Ade, Delcroix, Lacroix, Jacques, L Pierre, Deedson, Bellegarde, Providence & Pierrot

Last five games

  • Haiti 1-0 Costa Rica
  • Honduras 3-0 Haiti
  • Nicaragua 0-3 Haiti
  • Costa Rica 3-3 Haiti
  • Haiti 0-0 Honduras

Nicaragua preview: Aiming for consecutive victories since September 2024

Nicaragua left Honduras stunned on Friday as they secured a 2-0 victory when the two nations squared off at the Nicaragua National Football Stadium.

Despite being under the cosh for most of the game, Bancy Hernandez and Jaime Moreno netted in either half to hand the Blue and White their first win in Group I.

Prior to that, Marco Antonio Figueroa’s men kicked off the third qualifying round with a 1-1 draw against Costa Rica on September 6, before losing to each of their subsequent three games.

Nicaragua, who are currently 133rd in the latest FIFA World Rankings, sit rock-bottom in the group standings with four points from a possible 12 and will be looking to close out the campaign on a positive note.

However, results on the road leave little room for optimism as Nicaragua have lost each of their most recent four away games since a 1-1 draw against Cuba in the CONCACAF Nations League back in September 2024.

Predicted lineup: Lopez (GK), Quijano, Cano, Nino, Velasquez, Coronel, Arteaga, Barrera, Arauz, Hernandez & Moreno

Last five games

  • Nicaragua 2-0 Honduras
  • Costa Rica 4-1 Nicaragua
  • Nicaragua 0-3 Haiti
  • Honduras 2-0 Nicaragua
  • Nicaragua 1-1 Costa Rica

Frantzdy Pierrot delivered the goods once again for Haiti on Friday when he inspired the victory over Costa Rica and the experienced striker will be one to keep an eye on.

Pierrot’s winner against Costa Rica was his 33rd goal in Les Grenadiers’ colours since his debut in September 2018 and the AEK Athens man now sits four goals shy of second place in the nation's all-time scoring chart.

The 30-year-old should spearhead Haiti’s attack on Wednesday, forming the attacking quartet with Louicius Don Deedson, Ruben Providence and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ forward Jean-Ricner Bellegarde.
