Groningen preview: No major injury concerns
Groningen suffered a crushing 4-1 defeat to AZ Alkmaar last time out, as the Pride of the North began the season in a fashion they would not have wanted. This time, the task will be to return to winning ways in front of their home supporters.
Right-back Marco Rente scored the only goal for Groningen in last week's encounter. Although the defender couldn't finish the game because of a knock, he is expected to be ready for this contest.
Predicted lineup: Jurjus (GK), Prins, Peersman, Blokzijl, Rente, Resink, Jonge, Werff, Bergen, Taha & Willumsson.

Heerenveen preview: Looking to extend their unbeaten run
In one of only two draws registered in the opening weekend of the 2025-26 Eredivisie campaign, Heerenveen were made to settle for a point with Volendam at home after Ozan Kokcu cancelled out Luuk Brouwers’ first-half strike in the 65th minute.
Despite being on the road this round, Heerenveen will seek to obtain their first win of the season, but they will have to do without Levi Smans, who recently sustained a knee injury.
Not much is expected to change in Robin Veldman's strategy for this game, as the manager looks to continue with his one-man striker upfront, which could either be Dylan Vente or Vaclav Sejk.
Predicted lineup: Noppert (GK), Zagaritis, Kersten, Hopland, Petrov, Overeem, Brouwers, Trenskow, Linday, Rivera & Vente.

Player to watch: Stije Resink

Stije Resnik put in an abysmal performance last weekend, scoring an own goal as Groningen suffered a 4-1 defeat at AZ Alkmaar. The former Almere City midfielder will hope to redeem himself this weekend.
