After relegation from LaLiga, Girona decided a change in management was needed and appointed Quique Alvarez.
He has a had a mixed start to pre-season so far (W1, D1, L1), but Arsenal will provide Girona's toughest test.
Azzedine Ounahi remains unavailable for the Spaniards after his World Cup exploits with Morocco, while a number of other first-team players are expected to be missing.
Still, Girona will at least want to put in a respectable performance, although they are very much underdogs here.
Arsenal kicked off their pre-season with a behind-closed-doors friendly against MK Dons, which they won 3-0.
They bettered bitter North London rivals Tottenham's result, as Spurs could only beat the League One outfit 1-0 in pre-season.
Now, they head to Spain aiming to build momentum for the upcoming campaign, where they could win the Premier League again and also chase a first-ever Champions League title after losing on penalties in the final to Paris Saint-Germain.
Mikel Arteta's squad has a few notable absences with their English and Spanish players given an extended break after the World Cup, while William Saliba and Christian Norgaard are injured.

Whispers predicts: Girona 0-2 Arsenal
Arsenal are strong 11/20 (1.55) favourites to win, but while we agree with the bookies, we would like to explore some more ambitious bets.
BTTS – No at 6/5 (2.20) offers more value and given Arsenal's exceptional defensive record in recent seasons, we can see them keeping a clean sheet here.
Under 2.5 goals at 27/20 (2.35) could also be worth backing though as the Gunners find their stride with several key players missing.
Our final pick focuses on new signing Christos Tzolis, who has reportedly impressed in training after his £35m move to the Emirates Stadium.
Tzolis to score anytime at 7/4 (2.75) could be a fun punt, especially given the sheer number of goal contributions he managed for Club Brugge last term (G22, A29).
Overall, we are predicting a 2-0 Arsenal victory, which can be backed at 15/2 (8.50).
> BTTS – No at 6/5 (2.20) | Likelihood: Possible
> Under 2.5 goals at 27/20 (2.35) | Likelihood: Possible
> Tzolis to score anytime at 7/4 (2.75) | Likelihood: Possible
