🔥 Our Hot tip

Havertz to score anytime

Havertz has scored five goals in his last five games for club and country.

Both Germany and Ivory Coast know another win will send them through to the knockouts as they face off in their second World Cup game in Group E in Toronto on Saturday night.

Indeed, Germany thrashed Curacao 7-1 in their opening match, while Ivory Coast narrowly beat Ecuador 1-0.

Three more points for either side would put them on six in total, and safely through to the last 32.

Germany recorded the biggest win of the opening round of matches at the World Cup, thumping debutants Curacao 7-1 in what is a famous scoreline for the Germans, who beat hosts Brazil by the same one at the 2014 World Cup on their way to winning it.

It is highly unlikely Julian Nagelsmann's side will replicate the same scoreline here though against a much better opponent on paper, with Ivory Coast ranked 33rd in the world.

Still, Germany should be favourites to earn back-to-back victories and progress into the knockouts, which remarkably the four-time winners have not done since their 2014 triumph.

The Germans have reported no fresh concerns at the time of writing, and it would not be surprising to see the same XI that thrashed Curacao fielded.

Ivory Coast will not have that luxury though with Elye Wahi denied entry into Canada over alleged match-fixing.

Still, the Elephants will be able to field a strong side that should test Germany, especially considering they are on a five-match winning run in all competitions.

Their record against European sides at World Cup finals is not great though, having only won once in four previous attempts (D1, L2).

Ivory Coast have never reached the knockouts of a World Cup either, but even a point here could be enough for Emerse Fae's team to make history.

Whispers predicts: Germany 2-1 Ivory Coast

Germany are 11/20 (1.55) favourites to win, but while we side with the bookies, these odds are too short for us to back.

Instead, our first pick is BTTS – Yes at 4/5 (1.80), given Germany have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last seven World Cup games.

In terms of players to watch, Kai Havertz netted a brace against Curacao, making it a fourth World Cup finals he has scored in.

Havertz to score anytime at 29/20 (2.45) is fairly generously priced in our eyes.

Our final punt focuses on corners, and more specifically the high volume Germany seem to rack up.

Indeed, they have won eight or more corners in five of their previous six matches, and so Over 7.5 Germany corners at 11/5 (3.20) could be worth a shot.

Overall, we are predicting a 2-1 Germany win, which is available at 8/1 (9.00).

📈 Germany vs. Ivory Coast — Whispers' Tips

> BTTS – Yes at 4/5 (1.80) | Likelihood: Probable

> Havertz to score anytime at 29/20 (2.45) | Likelihood: Possible

> Over 7.5 Germany corners at 11/5 (3.20) | Likelihood: Outsider
