After a turbulent four years, Germany are starting to look like a real international powerhouse once again and will enter this year's World Cup as a dangerous opponent for anyone.

Julian Nagelsmann has finally got his message through to his squad, and star man, Florian Wirtz, who has largely struggled in a Liverpool shirt this season, is excelling under his tutelage.

Across Germany's last five outings, they have scored 17 goals at an average of more than three goals a game. Perhaps more impressively, the goals they conceded against Switzerland were the first goals they have given away since September 2025.

🔍 Whispers Insight

There are 62 places between Germany and Ghana in the FIFA world rankings..

For the match against Ghana, Nagelsmann will be keen to see a stronger defensive effort, but he will also be aware that it is his final chance to get a look at certain players, so rotation in all areas is expected.

In terms of injuries, Jonas Urbig has had to withdraw from the squad, while Felix Nmecha, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Jamal Musiala all missed out on the initial squad.

As for Ghana, their form since securing qualification for the World Cup has been far from ideal. Defeat to Austria on Friday night was their third in a row, but they did at least get on the scoresheet for the first time since the October international break.

🔍 Whispers Insight

Germany have scored at least three goals in four of their last six games..

Facing European opponents is far from a regular occurrence for the Black Stars; Monday night marks just their second since the World Cup in Qatar four years ago. This summer, they will take on both England and Croatia in the group stages, so this has perhaps been an oversight by the Ghanaian powers that be.

They will need to perform better on Monday than they did on Friday if they are to go into this year's World Cup with any belief they can go toe-to-toe with those two European giants, even if manager Otto Addo has said in the build-up to this fixture that he is confident his side can 'keep up' with Germany.

For all of Addo's posturing in public, he will be concerned that he is missing some of his best players for this clash, notably Tottenham Hotspur's Mohammed Kudus and Athletic Bilbao's Inaki Williams.
