Both Germany and Italy will be hoping to reach the semi-finals of the U21 UEFA European Championships when they face off at the MOL Arena on Sunday evening. Germany impressed by topping a group that featured holders England, while Italy managed to secure second spot ahead of hosts Slovakia, but behind one of the pre-tournament favourites Spain.

Key stats
- Germany are on a six-game winning streak in all competitions.
- Italy have failed to score more than once in their last five matches.
- Germany have won the previous two H2Hs.
Correct score prediction: Germany U21 2-1 Italy U21
Germany are favourites to progress given their impressive group stage, but while Italy do not tend to score many goals, they do not concede too many either. Thus, we can see a fairly tight affair playing out, with the Germans just edging it.
Pre-game odds and win probability: Germany unsurprisingly favoured by bookmakers
- HOME: 19/20 (1.95) – 51.3%
- DRAW: 13/5 (3.60) – 27.8%
- AWAY: 12/5 (3.40) – 29.4%

Unsurprisingly, Germany are big favourites to progress according to the implied probabilities. Interestingly, an Italy victory is thought to be the next favoured result, slightly ahead of a draw in normal time.

Player to watch: Nick Woltemade
Nick Woltemade is really showing his worth at the tournament so far. Indeed, the German scored a hat-trick in their opening 3-0 win against Slovenia, before following that up with another goal in their next match against the Czech Republic.
Incredibly, Woltemade also netted a hat-trick in a friendly game in preparation for the competition, and could simply be too good for this level. He recently earned a cap for the senior team as well, showing that he could be a superstar in the future.
