* Betting odds were correct at the time of publication but are subject to change

Anderlecht slipped further behind in the title race last time out and now they sit ten points behind the league leaders Union Saint-Gilloise. Gent provide the opposition for Anderlecht on Sunday and we're predicting a close game between the pair as the visitors have an excellent recent record against the Belgian giants.

Anderlecht vs Gent prediction – Betting tips & odds

Hot Tip – Draw

  • Four of the last seven competitive and non-competitive meetings between these two clubs have ended in stalemates.
  • Anderlecht have drawn four of their last five matches in all competitions.

Another reason that we have backed a draw as our main prediction is that Gent haven't lost any of their last thirteen matches against Anderlecht.

Anderlecht vs Gent team news

Anderlecht

Despite taking the lead twice away at Mechelen in midweek, Anderlecht only managed to secure a point and slipped further behind Union SG in the title race. Thorgan Hazard fired the away side in front after just eight minutes but early in the second half, Mechelen equalised. Anderlecht must have thought they had done enough to win the game when substitute Luis Vazquez restored their lead with twelve minutes of the ninety remaining only for Mechelen to convert a ninetieth-minute penalty and make the final scoreline 2-2.

Moussa N'Diaye. Killian Sardella, Thomas Delaney and Francis Amuzu could all miss out on Sunday due to injury.

Predicted Lineup: Schmeichel (GK), Vertonghen, Debast, Patris, Rits, Hazard, Dreyer, Leoni, Arnstad, Stroeykens & Dolberg

Gent

Gent made the trip to Sint-Truiden on Thursday night where wing-back Archie Browne was shown a straight red card on the half-hour mark but a goal from Pieter Gerkens put the visitors 1-0 up at the interval. However, this proved to be a false dawn for Gent who collapsed in the second half, conceding four goals without reply to lose the match 4-1.

Along with Archie Browne who is suspended, Nurio Fortuna, Andrew Hjulsager, Davy Roef and Paul Nardi look set to miss the Anderlecht game through injury.

Predicted Lineup: Schmidt (GK), Torunarigha, Fadiga, Kandouss, Fadiga, Gandelman, Agbor, Gerkens, De Sart, Yokota & Depoitre

Player to Watch: Theo Leoni

Anderlecht midfielder Theo Leoni has proven to be a surprise hit this season, taking the role of chief playmaker and providing seven assists in the league alone so far.

Leoni, 23, had only played a handful of minutes before this season began but the Belgian playmaker has started eighteen times and has chipped in with three goals, helping to keep Anderlecht in the title race.

Leoni will have to be at his creative best this weekend when Anderlecht take on a Gent side that they haven't beaten since 2018.
