Over 3.5 goals across the 90

Frankfurt are four divisions above Engers.

Eintracht Frankfurt will hope to avoid embarrassment in the first round of the DFB-Pokal when they face amateur side and hosts FV Engers 07 on Sunday at Stadion Oberwerth.

The visitors head into the clash fresh off of qualifying for the Champions League after finishing third in the Bundesliga last term, whereas the home team are eighth in the fifth tier of German football after two matchweeks.

FV Engers 07 vs Eintracht Frankfurt prediction: Mismatch in the DFB-Pokal

Key stats

  • Eintracht Frankfurt have scored at least twice in five of their six pre-season friendlies, and netted 10 in their final four games of 2024-25.
  • The visitors have conceded 10 times in pre-season, and have not kept a clean sheet in their last nine.
  • The hosts managed to score six goals in their two most recent matches, as many as they had in their prior five.

Correct score prediction: Engers 0-4 Eintracht Frankfurt

While Engers will do their best to keep Eintracht Frankfurt at bay, it is difficult to see how they can stand firm against a side four divisions above them.

Most recent H2Hs: First ever meeting

The two sides have never met in any competition, but Engers have previously played professional sides in the DFB-Pokal.

Engers were eliminated in the first round of the cup tournament by VfL Bochum in 2020-21, as well as in the first round by Arminia Bielefeld in 2022-23.

Engers preview: Mixed 2025-26

Though Engers managed to win last time out – the club won 2-0 against Auersmacher on August 9 and kept their first clean sheet in 10 – they lost 3-1 against Idar-Oberstein on August 2.

It would be understandable if the hosts decided to use three centre-backs in order to maintain defensive solidity, so perhaps fans should expect to see a trio consisting of Serkan Gocer, Marcel Stieffenhofer and Kevin Lahn in defence.

Predicted lineup: Serdarusic (GK), Eberhardt, Thewalt, Schmitten; Semchuk, Gocer, Lahn, Stieffenhofer, Meinert; Kesikci & Willma

Player to watch: Jonathan Burkardt

Eintracht Frankfurt have lost key attacking firepower over the last two transfer windows, with Omar Marmoush and Ekitike leaving the club for the Premier League, but the Eagles have added Jonathan Burkardt to their ranks this summer.

The 25-year-old striker has scored twice in pre-season for his new club, and he also found the back of the net 18 times in the Bundesliga for Mainz 05 in 2024-25, and he will be hoping for a similarly productive season in the final third.
