BTTS - No

Both teams have scored in just one of both side's last four games

Both Flamengo and Chelsea come into this FIFA Club World Cup (CWC) Group D clash at the Lincoln Financial Field Stadium on Friday night off the back of 2-0 wins in their opening group stage games. Indeed, Flamengo beat Tunis, while Chelsea emerged victorious against LAFC.

Flamengo vs Chelsea prediction: Bore draw on the cards?

Key stats

  • Flamengo have won five games in a row, and are unbeaten in nine across all competitions.
  • Chelsea have won four successive matches in all competitions, and nine of the last 10.
  • Flamengo have kept seven clean sheets in eight games.

Correct score prediction: Flamengo 0-0 Chelsea

Both team's defences have been on top in recent games, and so both will be hard to breach. Given both sides are in great form too and a draw would edge them closer to qualification for the knockout stage, they could well cancel each other out here.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Chelsea favoured by bookmakers

  • HOME: 3/1 (4.00) – 25.0%
  • DRAW: 13/5 (3.60) – 27.8%
  • AWAY: 17/20 (1.85) – 54.1%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

Given they play in a superior league and are higher ranked in the club rankings, it is not a surprise to see that Chelsea are fancied by bookmakers to take home all three points. A draw is the next favoured result according to the implied probabilities, followed by a Flamengo victory.

Chelsea preview: Caicedo an injury worry

Moises Caicedo picked up a knock against LAFC, and so is a doubt for this one. Chelsea could also give a first start to Liam Delap, who impressed with an assist from the substitutes' bench in their victory last time out.

Predicted lineup: Sanchez (GK), James, Chalobah, Badiashile, Cucurella, Lavia, Fernandez, Nkunku, Palmer, Madueke & Delap

Player to watch: Jorginho

Jorginho is set to play against one of his former clubs Chelsea, where he was very successful. Indeed, the Italian central midfielder won the UEFA Champions League (UCL) with the Blues, among many other pieces of silverware.

Now, he is on the opposite side of the pitch with Flamengo, and he made a good impression on his first appearance for the Brazilian side after leaving Chelsea's Premier League London rivals Arsenal. Jorginho grabbed an assist in a 2-0 win for Flamengo against ES Tunis, and he will be hoping to make a similar impact against his former employers.
