Exeter
Exeter’s struggles continued with a 0-2 midweek loss vs Derby. Once again the Grecians offered precious little in attack and failed to score in 5 of their last 6 games, while at the same time, they looked shaky every time when they were asked to defend set pieces.
Exeter have now lost 6 in a row and even the recent managerial change is not helping to change the fortunes.
Important midfielder Taylor picked up a knock in midweek but he is hopeful to be available. The two main wing-backs Niskinen and Rankine remain sidelined though. This explains the struggles at defending crosses in recent weeks.
Predicted Lineup:
Sinisalo (GK), Sweeney, Aimson, Hartridge, Mitchell, Taylor, Carroll, Jules, Cole, Cox & Wildschut
Lincoln
Lincoln won two consecutive games since sacking their manager. The Imps triumphed again on Tuesday when they beat Charlton 3-1 at home. It was a refreshingly good attacking showing from Lincoln in this match. Defensively things were not that good and the Imps were lucky to concede only one goal.
First-team coach Tom Shaw is taking an interim charge for now and he is expected to be in the dugout again this weekend.
Star striker Mandroiu remains suspended. In further issues in attack Bishop has picked up a knee problem in midweek and is doubtful. This is on top of the fact that starting forwards House and Hacket-Fairchild had to undergo surgeries recently and they are both missing. This means that Lincoln could be without their main quartet up front for this trip.
This could see centre-back Roughan used as a striker and wing-back Sorensen playing an advanced role too.
Predicted Lineup:
Jensen (GK), Jackson, O’Connor, Mitchell, Burrows, Erhahon, Hamilton, Smith, Adelakun, Roughan & Sorensen
Starting Lineups
The teams usually announce their starting lineups one hour before the start of the game.
Player to Watch: Admiral Muskwe
The only chance for Exeter to stop their losing run is if they start scoring goals. One of the main hopes up front is the recently loaned-in forward Admiral Muskwe. The Zambian is yet to score for the Grecians but he has started only 3 games since his arrival so he had very limited time.
What Muskwe's arrival did was give Exeter a strong presence inside the box. The striker was inches away from scoring on multiple occasions in recent games and we think his first goal for the club could be registered this weekend.
