England vs Senegal World Cup 2022 Prediction
England cruised through to the last 16 with a 3-0 victory over a poor Welsh side, claiming the top spot in Group B, while Senegal needed a win against Ecuador in the final group game to pinch second place in Group A behind the Netherlands.
England to Win-to-Nil
Following the 6-2 over Iran, England have looked far more solid in defence, keeping clean sheets against USA and Wales in their final two group games. While we're expecting a close game on Sunday, we're backing England to do the business by scoring one or two goals and keeping a third clean sheet on the run to edge past a Senegal side that lost their opening game against tough opposition 2-0.
Under 2.5 Goals
We're not predicting many goals in this game as we are into the knockout stage now and all teams are bound to be looking to keep things tight at the back. A solid defence is just what Southgate has built his success as England manager around and while that hasn't brought the Three Lions any trophies yet, it could take England far in Qatar. Under 2.5 goals have been produced in four of Senegal's last six matches and we're not expecting their frontmen to have much joy against Maguire and co.

England Expects: Has Rashford earned a starting role?
England
England did enough against Wales to lift the mood of the nation after that boring goalless draw with the USA. Rashford scored twice and might just have played his way into the starting lineup against Senegal but Southgate is a rather cautious manager and is likely to stick to his favoured starting eleven, even if the front three haven't quite clicked just yet.
Meanwhile, Kalvin Phillips and James Maddison remain under question due to fitness concerns, but the rest of the team is in great shape and ready to go.
England Predicted Lineup:
Pickford – Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw – Rice, Henderson, Bellingham – Rashford, Kane, Foden
Senegal
Losing Mane before the tournament began was a huge setback for Senegal but they have defied all the critics to make it through to the last 16 for the first time since 2002. We're not convinced that Senegal have what it takes to beat England but we are expecting a very close game between the pair with just one or two goals separating them at the final whistle.
Obviously, Senegal is withotu Mane who was written off just ahead of the start of the tournament, but the team will also have to manage without Idrissa Gueye in this match since he has to serve a suspnsion after picking up a couple of yellow cards in group stages. Also, Cheikhou Kouyate remains out with an ankle injury.
E. Mendy – Sabaly, Koulibaly, Diallo, Jakobs – P. Gueye, N. Mendy, Ciss – Ndiaye, Dia, Sarr
