Match to end all square
These two sides had somewhat different weekends. Doncaster were mauled at the Keepmoat by a Wigan side that scored three goals in just over 30 minutes whilst Burton beat high flying Portsmouth despite holding just 23% possession. Our prediction is that this match will be considerably different. Doncaster's form has been awful with four losses on the bounce; their visitors have taken seven from the last nine points available. Burton had drawn their last two on the road prior to beating Pompey though whilst Doncaster's home form had been very strong until the last couple of games. As such, both sides would be happy with a draw; one to stop the rot and the other to continue their unbeaten streak. The last four meetings at Doncaster's home ground have ended in draws too.
Fewer than three goals
On stats alone, you can almost flip a coin on the prediction. Of Doncaster's last 10 home matches, five of them have been over 2.5 goals and five haven't. Burton's away form shows six of their matches falling under the all important marker of 2.5 with four over it. All that considered leans towards the match seeing under 2.5 goals albeit very slightly. We've factored in a little bit more than just raw stats though. Doncaster were shown up by Wigan at the weekend; Andy Butler, who is in temporary charge, won't allow that to happen again. We expect them to be tight at the back and Burton are hardly goal machines.
A slow and steady start
The last of our tips steals a little bit of logic from the previous prediction in that we expect Doncaster to be keeping things hushed at the back; that will be particularly true of the opening stages after Wigan raced into a 3-0 lead last time out. If Donny do come out with that mentality then Burton will struggle to break them down; it's a very different test to facing a possession dominant Portsmouth. At the 30 minute stage, we fully expect things to remain level. If we were being ultra bold, we might even suggest it would be goalless.
