Spain Olympic to win-to-nil

Dominican Republic Olympic have failed to score in four of their last six matches

Spain were the only side to get off to a winning start in Group C, defeating Uzbekistan, as the other game between Egypt and Dominican Republic ended in a goalless draw.

We're backing Spain to win much more convincingly on matchday two than they did against Uzbekistan, in what will be the Dominican Republic's toughest-ever test.

Spain Olympic preview: Opened with a victory

Spain are one of the favourite to secure the Gold medal in Paris and a 28th-minute goal from Marc Pubill put the Spanish 1-0 up against Uzbekistan.

However, Roma's Eldor Shomurodov equalised via a first-half stoppage-time penalty and the teams went in level at the interval.

Spain did manage to get back in front just after the hour mark through midfielder Sergio Gómez and this time they held on to secure all three points.

Predicted lineup: Tenas (GK), Miranda, García, Pubill, Cubarsí, Gómez, Baena, Oroz, Barrios, López & Ruiz

Player to watch – Abel Ruiz

Abel Ruiz has made the move back to his homeland this summer, signing for Girona following a four-year stint in Portugal with Braga.

The former Barcelona man is one of the over 23 players that have been selected for Spain's Olympic squad and the 24-year-old set up the opening goal against Uzbekistan.

The Girona forward created Spain's opening goal against Uzbekistan

We have high hopes for Ruiz in this tournament and believe that he can guide Spain to a medal position. After setting up a goal in the first game we wouldn't be surprised to see Ruiz open his goal scoring tally in the Olympics against the Dominica Republic this weekend as their defenders won't have come up against many better strikers before.
