Deportivo made an encouraging start to their first top-flight campaign since 2017-18, taking eight points from their first four fixtures, but their momentum has since faded, failing to win any of their last six league games, losing three of their last four.
However, their recent performances at Riazor offer some encouragement ahead of Monday's meeting, with Antonio Hidalgo's side having lost only once in five home matches this season, although their inability to turn draws into victories has been a recurring problem, as their last two league games on home soil, against Real Betis and Levante, have ended level.
They lost their last league game, with Atletico Madrid beating them 1-0, though they responded positively in the Copa del Rey during the week, beating sixth-tier Auriense 3-0 to progress to the second round.
Jonathan Asp scored twice before Luismi Cruz added a third, giving the team a welcome result after their difficult league spell.
Deportivo can also take confidence from their historical record against Osasuna at Riazor, having avoided defeat in each of their last five La Liga home meetings with the visitors, winning twice and drawing three times, while keeping a clean sheet in every one of those encounters.
That record is encouraging, although it should be noted that the teams have not met in the top flight since the 2016-17 campaign.
Deportivo are expected to be without defender Bright Ede, midfielder Marc Casado and forward Zakaria Eddachouri.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has returned to training after undergoing meniscus surgery in September, but the fixture is expected to come too soon for the club's top scorer. Bil Nsongo is therefore likely to lead the attack after scoring in the recent 1-1 home draw against Levante.
Deportivo are one of only two La Liga sides yet to keep a clean sheet this season.
Osasuna, meanwhile, arrive in Galicia with plenty to prove after another disappointing away performance, where they have suffered four successive league defeats.
Jagoba Arrasate returned for a second spell in charge following the departure of Luis Miguel Ramis, and his first match brought a 2-0 victory over Racing de Santander.
However, that positive result was followed by a 2-0 defeat away to Sevilla, leaving Osasuna with four consecutive league losses on their travels.
Osasuna have failed to score in their last five La Liga visits to Deportivo.
The visitors' defensive record away from home is a particular concern, having conceded 17 goals across their first five road matches in La Liga.
They did at least enjoy a comfortable Copa del Rey victory in midweek, beating sixth-tier Atletico Calatayud 6-0, with Raul Garcia scoring a hat-trick.
Osasuna will also be without several players, with Jorge Herrando and Romain Del Castillo sidelined by adductor injuries and Aimar Oroz unavailable because of a hamstring problem.
Iker Munoz is pushing for a place in midfield ahead of Lucas Torro, while Budimir is expected to retain his position as the focal point of the attack.

Whispers predicts: Deportivo La Coruna 1-1 Osasuna
Deportivo's home resilience gives them a reasonable chance of ending their winless run, but their recent inability to finish off opponents suggests that a victory is far from guaranteed, making a draw at 3.43 (243/100) very likely.
Osasuna have enough attacking quality to cause problems, although their away defensive record remains a major weakness, and we believe there will not be many goals here, and making under 2.5 goals at 2.16 (29/25) a good pick.
> Both teams to score at 1.95 (19/20) | Likelihood: Medium
> Under 2.5 goals at 2.16 (29/25 | Likelihood: Medium
> Match result – Draw at 3.43 (243/10 | Likelihood: Medium
> Correct score: Deportivo La Coruna 1-1 Osasuna at 6.00 (5/1) | Likelihood: Low
