Sadly, we won't be seeing Erling Haaland or Martin Ødegaard at Euro 2024 as Norway failed to qualify but their hosts this weekend, Denmark, will be in Germany later this month.

Norway haven't qualified for any major international tournament since Euro 2000 but should still provide Denmark with a tough test following their 3-0 win over Kosovo on Wednesday night which saw Erling Haaland score a hat trick.

The Danes were also in action on that same night beating neighbours Sweden 2-1 at Venue Parken thanks to goals from Pierre Højbjerg and Christian Eriksen.

Denmark vs Norway prediction: Danes to dominate?

Key Stats

  • Denmark have played Norway 11 times before, picking up seven wins and only losing twice.
  • Saturday's hosts have won four of their last six matches in all competitions.
  • Denmark have scored exactly two goals in four of their last six matches and Norway have only failed to score in one of their last six outings.
  • At least three goals have been scored in three of Nroway's last four fixtures.

Last five H2Hs: Denmark lead

Saturday's hosts have won three and drawn two of their last five games against Norway with the pair's last encounter back in 2013 ending in a 2-1 win for the Danes.

Denmark preview: In good form

Kasper Hjulmand has put together a side that is mostly in its prime with the exceptions being youngsters Victor Kristiansen and Rasmus Højlund, along with the aging Christian Eriksen, Thomas Delaney, Mathias Jørgensen, Simon Kjær and Kasper Schmeichel who are 32 or older and could be featuring in their final tournament for Denmark.

Predicted lineup: Rønnow (GK), Vestergaard, Nelsson, Kristiansen, Jelert, Højbjerg, Jensen, Hjulmand, Damsgaard, Dolberg & Dreyer

Norway preview: Have to improve

The fact that a team with the likes of Martin Ødegaard and Erling Haaland have failed to qualify for the last two major international tournaments is somewhat of a crime.

Ståle Solbakken has talent throughout his squad including the Valencia goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland, defenders Kristoffer Ajer and Julian Ryerson, young midfielders Antonio Nusa and Oscar Bobb as well as Haaland's backup in attack, Celta Vigo's Jørgen Strand Larsen. Sure we will see Haaland and co grace the field at the next World Cup or European Championship.

Predicted lineup: Nyland (GK), Ajer, Ryerson, Bjørkan, Østigård, Elyounoussi, Ødegaard, Berge, Bobb, Sørloth & Haaland

Player to watch – Christian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen could earn his 130th cap for Demark if he plays against Norway this weekend but surely all fans of football will just be happy to see him back at another international tournament following the heart issue he endured at Euro 2020.

Eriksen featured in 28 games for Man Utd across all competitions last season and it will be interesting to see if he moves on soon to a club where he can still be one of the first names on the teamsheet.

Could make his 130th appearance for Denmark this weekend

With 41 international goals, Eriksen provides one of the main goal threats for Denmark from midfield and at the age of 32, not to mention his role as playmaker, and this is why the Man Utd man is our player to watch on Saturday.
