Over 2.5 goals

Only one of Denmark's last seven matches has produced fewer than three goals.

DR Congo will step up their preparation for the 2026 World Cup with an international friendly against Denmark at the Maurice Dufrasne Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Africans are in action for the first time since clinching their place in football's biggest event earlier this year, while their European counterparts set out to bounce back from a penalty shootout defeat in the World Cup playoffs.

After emerging as Africa's representative for the World Cup Interconfederation Play-Offs, DR Congo were just 90 minutes away from a second-ever appearance at the global showpiece. Standing in their way was Jamaica, who had beaten New Caledonia in the semi-finals.

Sebastien Desabre's men were held to a goalless draw after 90 minutes, leading to extra time, during which Axel Tuanzebe scored the decisive goal to end his nation's 52-year wait for a World Cup berth.

As a result, Les Leopards will now face Portugal, Colombia and Uzbekistan over an 11-day span later this month, hoping to improve upon their group-stage exit in 1974.

Defensive solidity has underpinned DR Congo's revival since losing their final two matches at the Africa Cup of Nations. Since then, they have gone unbeaten in 17 of their last 19 matches.

However, the Central Africans could really do with some attacking impetus and will rely on Yoane Wissa, who endured a rough 2025-26 season with Newcastle United following his move from Brentford.

Aiming to reach three consecutive World Cups for the first time, Denmark's hopes of automatic qualification were dashed by a 4–2 defeat to Scotland in their final group game, forcing them into the play-offs, where they faced North Macedonia in the first round.

Brian Riemer's men cruised to a 4–0 win over North Macedonia to set up a winner-takes-all clash with the Czech Republic, which they lost on penalties after a 2–2 draw in regulation time.

After going seven games unbeaten between June 7 and November 15, De Rod-Hvide have lost two of their last three matches either side of the new year and will be keen to get back on track with a win on Wednesday.

Denmark face Ukraine this weekend in their final outing before November's Nations League takes centre stage, while DR Congo wrap up their World Cup preparations with a clash against Chile next Tuesday.

Whispers predicts: Denmark 2-1 DR Congo

Despite DR Congo's resilient defence, Denmark have enough quality in the final third to prevail, and we are backing them to win at 1/2 (1.50).

Only one of Denmark's last seven matches has produced fewer than three goals, so over 2.5 goals at 11/10 (2.10) provides good value.

Given Denmark's tendency to attack from wide areas, their matches often produce plenty of corners, making over 8.5 corners at 2/3 (1.67) another appealing selection.
