Daegu vs Barcelona predictions: Visitors to reign supreme

Key stats

  • Daegu are on a three-match losing run and a 12-game winless streak across all competitions.
  • Barcelona have scored 10 goals two friendlies so far.
  • Eight of Barcelona’s last 10 matches produced goals at both ends.

Correct score prediction: Daegu 1-4 Barcelona

Daegu have been by far the worst team in the Korean top flight this season, with a 3-5-16 win-draw-loss record in 24 league matches.

Byung-Soo Kim’s troops have no wins in their last 12 games (D3, L9) and have failed to score in their last two matches. They are up against a Barcelona side on a three-game winning run.

There is a huge difference in quality between these squads, and for this reason, anything other than a comfortable victory for Barcelona would be a surprise.

Most recent H2Hs: First clash

Daegu and Barcelona will go toe-to-toe with each other for the first time on Monday. In fact, this will be Daegu’s first encounter with a European team.

Daegu preview: Eyeing their biggest win ever

Daegu are in bad shape ahead of this contest, as they are bottom of the 12-team K-League table, and have not picked up a win in their last 12 games.

In fact, after 24 rounds, 10 of 11 teams in the Korean top flight have accumulated at least twice as many points as Daegu's tally of 14, with 11th-placed Anyang being the exception (27 points).

Coach Kim will not be able to call upon the services of Jeong-un Hong, Jeong-hyun Kim and Dae-hun Park due to injuries.

Cesinha has provided much of Daegu's attacking threat this season. The Brazilian forward has five goals and three assists and will most likely be the lone man in Kim's favoured 5-4-1 formation.

Predicted lineup: Oh (GK), Rim, Uh, Jin-hyeok Kim, Jo, Jeong, Ju-kong Kim, Hyun, Lamas, Silva & Cesinha.

Barcelona preview: Looking to extend their winning streak

Following wins against Vissel Kobe and FC Seoul last month, coach Hansi Flick will oversee a third pre-season game on Barcelona's Asian Tour on Monday.

The German is expected to select a strong starting XI, like he did last time, as the La Liga champions prepare for their season opener away at Mallorca.

Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha will likely be up front, while loanee Marcus Rashford keeps a place amongst the substitutes. Inigo Martinez did not feature against FC Seoul last time out due to muscular tiredness, but the defender is expected to be in the starting lineup this time.

Due to Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s recurring back injury, summer signing Joan Garcia has become the club's new first-choice goalkeeper ahead of the new season.

Predicted lineup: Garcia (GK), Kounde, Cubarsi, Martinez, Balde, Pedri, De Jong, Olmo, Raphinha, Yamal & Lewandowski.
