Cruzeiro will take on Atletico GO this weekend as the Brazilian Serie A reaches boiling point.
The hosts won't yet have given up on winning the title this season but they will need to end this season in spectacular form if they are to bridge the ten-point gap between themselves and Fortaleza at the top of the division.
The situation is very different for Atletico Go as they look to beat the drop. As things stand, they are rock bottom and need to close a six-point gap.
As part of our latest round of Brazilian Serie A betting tips, here is our Cruzeiro vs Atletico GO prediction.

Cruzeiro vs Atletico GO prediction: The visitors to spring a shock
Key stats
- Atletico GO have won their last two matches by a combined score of 3-1.
- Cruzeiro won just one of their last seven matches in all competitions.
- Fewer than three goals have been scored in four of Cruzeiro's last six matches.
Correct score prediction: Cruzeiro 0-1 Atletico GO
Timing is everything in football and this match comes at a terrible time for Cruzeiro and at a brilliant one for Atletico GO. The visitors have some form and momentum for the first time this season and they are facing a team currently facing a confidence crisis. Despite their poor league position, Atletico GO will fancy their chances of making it three wins in a row on Sunday.
Pre-game odds and win probability: The hosts are the favourites
- Home: 11/20 (1.55) – 64.5%
- Draw: 13/5 (3.60) – 27.8%
- Away: 17/4 (5.25) – 19%
Given they are 13 places above Atletico GO in the league table and playing at home on Sunday, it should come as no surprise to learn that Cruzeiro are the favourites with the bookies. However, that just provides us with fantastic value on the away win.
Ladbrokes have priced the home win at 11/20 while the away win has been priced at 17/4. The draw, which does very little for both teams, has been priced at 13/5.

Most recent H2Hs: Advantage Cruzeiro
Our faith in Atletico GO ahead of Sunday may look misplaced when looking at the recent head-to-head record between the two sides. Cruzeiro are unbeaten in their last seven matches (six wins and one draw) with Atletico GO's last victory in this fixture coming in 2011.

Cruzeiro preview: Can they escape the rut?
Cruzeiro are certainly in a rut in the league at the minute and have now gone five matches without victory. That run has left their title hopes all but extinct but they do at least have the Copa Sudamericana to fall back on. Could a win here reignite their domestic season?
Predicted lineup: Cassio (GK), William, Ze Ivaldo, Marcelo, Marlon, Walace, Henrique, Japa, Gomes, Jorge & Pereira.

Player to watch: Jan Hurtado
Jan Hurtado has never been the most prolific striker in the world and up until a fortnight ago, the Venezuelan striker was yet to find the back of the in the league this season. However, two weeks later and he has two goals in two matches and is a man who will be itching for kick-off on Sunday.
Incredibly, Hurtado only needs to score one more goal this season to beat his previous best in the Brazilian Serie A. While this says more about his previous record than anything else, it's a good target for him to aim for in the coming weeks.
