  • Como’s last six matches went above the 2.5-goal line.
  • Lazio won three of the last four meetings between these teams.
  • Fewer than five cards were awarded in each of Lazio's last five games.

Correct score prediction: Como 1-2 Lazio

Lazio are in high spirits after winning back-to-back games without conceding. The visitors have been a tough team to beat, losing only twice in their last 13 matches across all competitions.

Interestingly, Lazio are also unbeaten in their last four clashes with Como (W3, D1). On that note, we are leaning toward the visitors for the win.

Interestingly, there were three red cards awarded in two encounters between these sides last season. Como have no wins in their last four clashes with Lazio, although two of those took place during the 2002/03 season.

Como preview: Eyeing their first opening-day win since 1951

Cesc Fabregas’ side punched above their weight last campaign as they finished in the top 10, a great feat for a team which, prior to last term, previously played in Serie A during the 2002/03 season.

Marking their second time in Italy's top flight in 22 years, Como will have an improved ambition to go further up the table; and with history beckoning them in this weekend's opener, Fabregas' outfit could end their 74-year wait for an opening-day win in the league (their last victory came against Torino in September 1951).

Forward Nicolas-Gerrit Kuhn and defender Alberto Dossena are out of this clash due to injury, while Jayden Addai and Assane Diao remain touch-and-go this weekend.

Summer arrival Alvaro Morata, who has previously played in Serie A with Juventus and AC Milan, is in line to make his debut for Como on Sunday.

Predicted lineup: Butez (GK), Vojvoda, Ramon, Kempf, Valle, Nico Paz, Da Cunha, Caqueret, Diao, Morata & Rodriguez.

Lazio preview: A few injury concerns

Missing out on continental qualification last season after being within the spread for a long while was a tough pill to swallow for the management of Lazio, who wasted no time in sacking coach Marco Baroni and reappointing Maurizio Sarri.

With only domestic football to contend with this season for Lazio, the former Juventus boss could be well on the way to returning the Biancocelesti to reckoning in Italian football.

Sarri will not be able to call on the services of the suspended Alessio Romagnoli this weekend. Spanish defender Patric and Danish midfielder Gustav Isaksen are sidelined with injuries, while veteran left-back Samuel Gigot remains questionable.

Predicted lineup: Provedel (GK), Marusic, Gila, Provstgaard, Nuno Tavares, Guendouzi, Rovella, Dele-Bashiru, Cancellieri, Castellanos & Zaccagni.
