Colorado Rapids have been one of the poorest teams in the Western Conference this campaign, losing 10 of their 17 matches so far. Only bottom-placed Sporting Kansas City have lost more (11).

They resumed their season with a narrow 1-0 win over San Diego FC, before succumbing to St. Louis City a few days later by the same scoreline.

Matt Wells’s outfit have lost four of their last seven league matches, including three of their last four on home turf.

However, to their luck, Austin have been no better. Los Verdes have struggled to build momentum throughout the season.

They have won only once in six league outings and sit two points behind Colorado in the table.

Davy Arnaud, formerly the assistant manager, has been appointed as Austin’s interim coach until the end of the calendar year.

Points are the need of the hour for both sides – they have won two games apiece in their last four league meetings.

Colorado will be without Rob Holding, who picked up an early red against St. Louis City. Travis Jackson, Zack Steffen and Theo Dipietro are sidelined with injuries. For Austin, Mikkel Desler and Jon Bell are absentees.
